Well for my senior designfor me Mech engineering degree, I am doing an interesting project involving my car. I however need some information which I hope you guys can help me with.

For a 240sx (s13 or s14), I need to know the air temperature leaving the vents of your air conditioner at FULL COLD and FULL FAN SPEED.

with my sr20, I disconnected the a/c and never put it back on (I need to)
so I am calling on you all to get me these temps.

The flow rate I can get because my fan still works.
Please help guys, the closer to the vent the better, hell if you can stick a probe down the a/c vent and get a temp reading it would be GREAT

THANKS!!!!!!!

****EDIT****

Please only people with proper running a/c, if your system gets cold, I would like to know how cold.
If it needs a recharge, you dont have to bother , hehe
thanks

Well, when I got my system fixed out here, they hooked up a thermo into the vent. The guy who was looking at it said that it needs to drop to less than 15 degree, 10 would be ideal.

Kinda of a loaded question. Every car is going to operate slightly different based on type of refrigerant, ambient temperature, humidity, airflow (driving or idling), system pressure, etc. There's a ton of variables to account for. On a cold day in the mountains the A/C will blow colder than a hot day by the beach.

Ideally a car should blow about 45 degrees on low speed. On high speed the air is heated more as the velocity increases temperature so you'll see maybe 50-55.

just went from r-12 to r-134a
on my sr

so cold i need to turn it off and roll windows down lol

R12 is colder then r134a. Also if you're hitting 15 degrees out the vents your car is broken and you would have some part freezing issues. nissan says anything 38-45 degrees is normal vent temps

yes, I sort of meant leaving the heat exchanger, I know the temps can vary greatly, I only want round-about numbers. I just need to know the presumed temp drop across the heat exchanger under the dash, so the farther in the vent I can get a temp the better ( this may also help in getting more consistent readings.

As far as the 10-15 degrees ( I am guessing degrees C, you are in japan), I called an A/C shop in my area asking similar questions, and he stated that that vent temps are very close to 45-55 degrees F and that it can reach as close as 25 degrees F right post HeatXchanger.

So this adds up for the most part. thanks alot guys. I think you may like my project too, but first I must do some calculations in order to determine if it is feasable. thanks
