Just curious what version you're using and what OS you're running it on? I have 2007 and am running it on Windows 7 and it seems sluggish. Also when I played with the dimension tool a lot, the video card would give me a problem and shut the program down. :mepoke: any ideas?

I'm on XP SP3 and running 2007 without much of a problem.

Graphics card usually are the main reason for failures like you mentioned. I used to run 2007 at a previous job, so I can't remember what the system set up was but we had several issues where the program would just crash. It all was related to the graphics card. Talk with a rep and give them all your specs, they are awesome about trouble shooting issues like this.
Currently running: Solidworks 2009 SP3

I had a similar issue with the '07 on my desktop with XP. It was probably the graphics card. Gave up and just used my laptop with Vista. Never had much of a problem with it shutting down, only with large assemblies and not enough RAM.

I'm running Solidworks 09 on vista 64bit no problem.. Quadro fx1700 video card (yea.. a REAL modeling card).. I'm also running Catia, NX6, Pro/E, and Ansys with no problems.. I've never had a problem with any of these programs with the models I deal with.. I've seen the Quadro FX1700 card start to struggle when working with very large assemblies.. By large assemblies I'm talking about complete automobile models with everything..
BTW, I don't think the rep's will give you video card support unless you have a workstation card like a Quadro or FireGL (among many other types)...
