I have a set of Tanabe Pro 7 and the front passenger struts seal is blown.. i went on their site and didn't see them listed anymore
Tanabe USA Inc. - Sustec Pro SEVEN Coilover (http://www.tanabe-usa.com/seven.asp?id=16)
Have they been discontinued? is there no hope for this set of coils?

They are rebuildable regardless.

Just email them.

Pro 7's are no longer in production, but like said above they should be rebuildable...

ya they do rebuilds i called them... its gonna take roughly $600-700 for a rebuild.... i need to send them the coilover, then they gotta send it to japan rebuild it and send it back.... the wait is about 3 to 6 month....

ouch...
another reason I plan to go with custom Konis
~$150 for a custom rebuild/valve job is what most local places charge

You might as well sell those and buy a new set. I couldn't wait 3 to 6 months for that. Sell them for whatever you can get and buy some stance coilovers.

So you want to tell me how you know they are made in china? Unless you work for them, they usually won't tell you where they source their parts from or where they are manufactured. All I know is I talked to the Stance/touge factory guys before and they are super knowledgable and the coilovers look very beefy and high quality.

It sounds like you don't know how to set up suspension, I have S13 stance on my car I drive it everyday, and it doesn't hurt me AT ALL and I'm riding on FULL stiff in the back.

You need to adjust your pre-load from the sound of it.

the FC ones are def stiff when compared to S chassis ones. I would not consider them to be the same ride quality tbh. That said why not just get some tein flex or whatever comfortable coilover if you don't want to go with stance?

I have that shiz set on 3 all around still rough as F***

speaking of tein aren't they being sued by some other company for biting their design?

I don't know about Tein being sued, but I have Tein HE's when they were replaced with Super Drift. I blew the shock and got it re-built by them for about $200+ with about 1 week wait.

The next set of coilovers that I would most likely get will be PBM coils.

lol actually the shocks are made in taiwan, but the other shit stance probably just machine's in house. I have a set of sevens, but for s13, a dude who works for tanabe quoted me 300 for a brand new shock. they only have s13 shit available for the sevens. other than that you can get any suspension company to rebuild shocks, all you would need is the rebuild kit and that could be obtainable from kyb japan. If you did some research you would notice that kyb's real sports damper spec-TR are almost the same as the tanabe seven and all the components are probably just anodized a different color and rebranded.

I had stance on my fc that was setup properly.

No problems or complaints at all.

i say go buy powered by max coils and iff u want comfort get them to use the 8k/6k springs instead pf the 10k/8k springs
plus as far as a shock the pbm replacement shocks are 100 bux and as ive heard they are hard as hell to blow

There's no way they'd charge $600+ to rebuild one shock, that's closer to the price of all 4.

Tanabe USA has an office in Torrance, call them. They'll rebuild the Seven for you for sure.

No offense to PBM, I love most of their stuff, but you're comparing a decent (and poorly valved in my opinion, since the total adjustment range is so small) to the most adjustable off-the-shelf damper I've seen. I had a set of Sevens when they first came out (2006) for my S13 and the adjustment was incredible, really blew my mind.

Short story - no comparison - rebuild the Seven damper, maybe even the pair (I assume it's a front, might as well rebuild both fronts).

I've ridden in and driven many cars with PBM coils. The valving is wonderful as long as you enjoy 'full stiff'. For someone that does more than just drifting (or time attack on a perfectly smooth track), you need more adjustment. This is my opinion, but it happens to be shared with countless others on the forum whose experience is greater than the usual OEM/Megans/PBM/Ksport variety.

If you look at the shock dynos for both dampers you'll see exactly what I mean - the PBM coils simply don't dampen that differently whether they're on full soft or medium, and full stiff on any coil is basically like putting solid rods in there.
