On an s13 will the A/C light come on in the cabin when pressed if there is next to no refrigerant in the system?

The light only comes on when the compressor engages
if there is no refrigerant then the compressor will not engage

cool thanks. just got my A/C recharged and now the light comes on and works great.

Did they refill it with R12 or did they do a R134 retrofit?

Didn't fill it too far but it read 68* on the temp gauge.

so not too ban in my opinion.

paid $120 for the fill too
