well.. honestly..
i was looking for a 240sx since 2001 and finally got one in march 2002..
the VERY TRUE reason i want a 240sx is because:
1) i watched too many option videos
2) i watched too many initial d
3) my integra didnt give me enough pleasure for autoX
4) i envy those RWD cars doing tail whips on autoX courses

so there.. im not ashamed of my reasons... hahahahaha
so flame me!

now its y'all turn

i watched too many option videos

um...that was it. my old car was nice. but oh well
when i got my 240sx it was pretyt crappy and beatup and a lot of problems and i hugely regretted it for about 3 months. but now of course, im more then happy and learned a lot because of it and still learning. its been great fun

anyways.

this is my first car, when i was looking for a car long ago (3 years ago) i really had no idea what i wanted. Me and my dad were looking around for a couple months, and i really liked 300zx's, but because of limited funds, i looked for cars that were sort of like it but cheaper, then we found this guy selling a 240sx, that was in my price range, perfect condition and with low miles. I liked the way it looked, also learned it was rwd, and is known for handling, and is sort of like the little brother/little sister of the 300zx and i figured it would be the same kind of feel with just less power.

So overall i got the car because of limited funds, its looks, handling, and being rwd.

Still love the car as much now as the day i got it.

I was 15 years old some 7 years ago in 1996, needed a car, had always loved Nissans and dreamed about Z's.

I saw a 240sx in a Auto Trader and I though, cool a little Z :)

I did some research online which at the time there was none. I at least found out it was RWD and I was sold.

I went to test drive the 89 240sx Hatch and loved it and bought it within a week. Parked it in my Driveway and pretended to drive around for hours since I had no license at the time.

I remember my first mods were a Stillen Strut Bar and a K&N Intake (not much to choose from back then), Then came my "Custom Cat Back Exhaust" I had made, that was a mistake. But I try to forget about that.

Memoooooriessssssssssssss.................. :)

Mine was free.

I got it from my Aunt after my Integra got totalled (paid it off)....she just decided she didn't want it anymore. I have grown to love it, pignose and all.

3 or 4 years ago.... when Initial D was still being subtitled by people I knew on mIRC, I wanted to be a drifter. Of course, tofu not being too popular around the UConn area, my dreams quickly died and I was stuck with a black 1992 S13.

I've been interested in the car since fall '97 or so, when I first learned about it.

My intent originally was to buy an S13 and daily drive it, then swap in an SR later, and be a mad tite jdm drifter yo (yes, me)!

But things don't always work out that way...

I couldn't find the S13 or AE86 I wanted when I was buying my first car, so I ended up with my third choice... a Neon (I had friends that were dragging and autocrossing Neons.. still do).

After graduating from college I had a lot more income than I was used to and made some stupid decisions. First I bought an S12 project car, still with the mad tite jdm drift scenario in mind, and ended up selling it because, well, it sucked. Then when it was time to replace my Neon daily car, I passed on some nice S14s because I was afraid of the insurance rates.

By the time I got my S13 in feb. 2002, I was basically fulfilling a fantasy I no longer had... owning a Neon and a GTI for so long, I lost the urge to want to slide everywhere. But I still loved the 240SX for what it was; a dirt cheap, cheap to own (this is key), modern RWD car. I looked at FCs and E30s and 944s but the running costs of those machines turned me off.

I won't say the 'mad tite JDM' thing never entered into my thoughts - though that was part of the reason I was considering an FC instead. I specifically tried to find a car with a creampuff KA so I wouldn't be tied into swapping, though.

I got interested in 240s a while back mainly because of price. I realized I didn't want to be paying monthly for a car, so I looked in the $3000 range and stumbled upon a little nice looking S13 and from there roamed around the boards and now finally got it.

So far I like the car, not as smooth as the camry I drove, but didn't expect it too be.

just about to get my license (4.5 years ago) and saw it sitting in a driveway for sale... knew nothing about it except it was a good deal ($7,400 for an S13, kbb was $9k!! ). thats about it, i wanted to sell it for a month at first because i hated the 5-speed. now i really don't mind ;) hopefully i can move on to something bigger and better in a year or two though..

I have been an automotive enthusiast for life pretty much, I had a suscription to Motor Trend since I was 8 years old. Well I was driving a 85hp automatic Saturn and looking for something sporty. I was looking at a Porsche 944 or FC RX-7. Then I stumbled across Initial D on our dorm's network. Me and a friend watched an episode or 2 every night. Soon the tranny on his Caddy gave out and he needed a new car. He asked me about all the cars in Initial D and decided he wanted a 240. After he bought his I got to drive it. :D I was sold. I did some more research and saw that a 240 would be much cheaper to own than a 944 or FC. And in August I finally bought one.

Deperate for a new car, saw a friend driving a 200sx manual and wanted the same car.
But later my other friend told me about 97~98 240sx and i wanted to get it.
1) RWD sports coupe
2) Very rare with 5spd
3) Super unique hot slimmy looking with sharp eyes.
4) only had $9000 and i don't want HONDAs.

Took me 6 months to finally found and got it.

that was the same time i was introduced to the GTR..and at the same time i feel in love with Nissan since...but i also had a love for Honda becuz prior to GT i loved the NSX.

i soon later found out about drifting and saw pics of s14as drifting etc etc and thats when i feel for it.

I didn't know what the 240 was, I saw it in the paper for real cheap and was like I might wanna look at this car. Called the lady up and she said it worked fine and all went and looked at the 240 coupe and fell in love ever since.

After driveing my dads 79 gmc truck for 1.5years I decided that the cost of the gas saving would pay for a car payment..... It also diddent hurt I got a new job and was making 25k a year at 20.

So I did a bunch of consumer reports looking (found a 6'4" guy does not fit in most small cars) and I wont drive a honda But a nissan 240sx was on the list of cars.

I ended up test driving a 94 auto 240sx (hud is so cool) it was only 5k. came back a few days later after thinking. (it was gone)

So I talking to a few dealers and told them to find me a 240sx. 6 months later one calld back and had a Red 95 240sx-se for me.

I bought it the same night. (I did regret the price I paid for awhile)

I diddent even know there were mods for this car when I got it... I just got a car so I would stop spending cash on my dads truck.

I wanted a RWD car. I'm 6'3", and don't really fit into a Miata. A friend told me that they were RWD. So that was that.

I've never seen Initial D.

I've also never owned a "Tuner" mag (No SCC, SS, IT, none of them). How many of you can say that!?:D

I've wanted a 240 ever since 1998 when i first saw the S14 Kouki. I loved the look. I was still just starting Highschool and was only 13 so i knew that this car would be it. By the time i was abke to drive, it would be affordable. All through high school all my friends began getting their cars as they began to get their licenses. Civic here, crx there, MR2 here, 300ZX there, (some girl even had a NSX, but i cant count that). I wanted my car so bad. By that time, i had begun driving, i was not making enough to buy my own car. I was driving my dad's old Mercedes 190E (aka "the tank"). That was cool "pimpin the benzo". I still wanted my 240. This past fall when i started college, i had a good amount of money saved up from the summer and my sister began driving so we needed another car. I had been searching for a 240 since feb 2002 when my sis started driving and hadn't found a good one until the fall. I wanted the S14 Kouki, but that was still outta my price range, and couldnt find one that was in good condition, 5 speed or a color i liked. So i ended up buying a 1996 and planning on doing the 97-98 front end conversion or even the s15, but this front end has grown on me. I decided to work on getting a new motor first. Hopefully i will be able to pay off the car and get my RB this summer. ....sorry about the novel.

I had a 90 cavalier. I drove it around for like 1 year.
The shit had problems every single week it seemed. I spent soo much it was rediculous.
I wasnt really into cars that much even though I drove one.
I couldn't tell what certain cars were by looking at them (I sometimes still have problems with that, although I am much better than before)
Anyhow, I have a friend who's pops owns a used car selling place. I looked at all the different cars, I picked the 240 cause
I guess it was the cleanest, and had very low miles for a '90 (68K) and he sold it to me for only 8 hundred so I was like "ok cool"

Had 2 Escorts, Thrashed my GT in a rally cross and decided it was time to get ris of it, saw a 240 down the street from me and liked it, looked into it alittle and saw that it was pretty cool and ended up trading my gt for mine. That was 2 years ago. Since then I discovered "drifiting" (had been doing it all along but with no name to it) and initial D/ Option.

I had been into drag a while, but got tired of shifting in a straight line with really very little driver skill involved. I wanted a light car that was RWD and had a good engine. I knew about the SR for years, but I really loved FC's. Unfortunately I don't know jack about rotary power, so I got the 240sx for a song and bought a SR 2 months later.

Well it all started in about 1999. My uncle just got a wrecked champagne 240sx at an auction for $2000 bucks. I saw it for the first time at his house and was wondering why he bought that POS. I thought to myself that is crap compared to the big brother 300zx. But as I grew I started to get interested in the car because of it's looks. I finally started to drive stick and ask my uncle to drive the car. Once he did I feel in love with the car every since. Everytime he would come over to the house I would steal it and drive around the block. I started doing research about the car and started looking for one to buy for myself. At the end of 2001 my uncle told me that he wanted to get a new car and he said that he would give me his 240 because he saw how much I loved the car. After my Europe trip in the summer of 2002 a day after I got back he calls me up and tells me to pick up the car. I was going crazy when I got it and am still crazy over the car still today. Oh yeah he sold it to me for $2000 with 77k miles on her. :p

1. initial D - first time i saw a Silvia. did some research and decided I wanted one.

2. This was my first real chance to "build" a car or have a project car so my friend and I just started looking - found the 240, found the motor, swapped it, did the front end conversion

3. wanted a fast car that didn't look like everyone else's (ok unless you live in LA where silvia conversions are rampant)

I wanted an accord 97   (hey dont ask me I sometimes question my past) Then I started getting into cars, looked at a del sol :o .95 240sx was very high in price when I was looking for one check the date I joined I was looking before and I couldnt touch one for under 6500 but now there like 4500 and up or even a little cheaper. Looking that I couldnt get the 95' 240 i looked towards the mx- 6  not really feeling this car i moved on. I then really needed a car an decided on a s13 and been in love ever since.

I plan on getting mine for 4 reasons, plain and simple:

1) Initial D
2) I think that for 10k I can run 12s, drift, and autox with the best of them
3) Option
4) Ill be able to wear drifter tshirts without being called a poser.

i'll admit i was into integras and eclipses for a while.... never really civics though.

i did want an import that i could mod, and i rarely saw 240s in my town, and the s13 to s14 ratio is like 5:1 ...... and none are modded. I really loved the look of the s14, and i stumbled across zilvia, learned it was RWD, handled good, and was a fun car. so i started shopping. found one in NC, and my dad and I went 1000 miles round trip in 24 hours to buy it.

I really wanted an import that wasn't common in my area. Funny how it allways turns out so as soon as you get a good idea, everyone else allready beat you to it. Oh well, so everyone else has one now, I will just have fun with it. I am not mad. I love my 240sx

I used to be totally uninterested in cars (couldnt tell the diff between older accords and civics). Just grateful to be able to drive around the family's 92 Camry and 99 G20. I thought manual tranny was unnecessary and troublesome, and i wanted to drive a Camry for the rest of my life. Searched intensely everyday from mid Feb to April 13, from internet classifieds to test driving 6-7 cars (some with my dad), and finally bought the perfect white 1991 240SX LE.

How i got interested in 240SX
1. Initial D (no kidding, it definitely sparked my interest in cars)
2. Peer hype (friend was searching to buy his own car, a 944, and the excitement to search for my own rubbed onto me)
3. My dad, a 240Z admirer who never got the chance to afford one, but was definitely a car nut (never found this out til i got interested in cars)

Why the 240SX?
4. Bang for buck
5. RWD (drift potential...did i mention initial D? haha)
6. Flip lights (have always been fascinated with flip lights since i was a little kid)
7. Rare (never seen one in my neighborhood, and didnt know anyone who drove one)
8. Japanese (reputable reliability and generic/cheaper parts)

Yeah, i was one naive and excited little boy back then (it was like a year ago, but i was all up in the hype!). When i finally got my car, man did i want to be a racer. I wanted to mod my car up and drift.

Time passes, my dad influences my car mentality, i mature a bit and think more practically. To this day, my car is basically stock, but in top condition, interior/exterior/engine. My dad taught me to do basic maintenance replacements and things and i learned to appreciate my stock car more than ever. Learned stick on this car, learned more about my dad with this car. Eventually dropped the racer mentality, but remained a true enthusiast nonetheless. It may not be boosting 15psi or have crazy suspension set up, but i think my 240SX is simply awesome and i am so proud of it. :)

=) i like this thread too, mine is gonna be long...

i was really into cars as a little boy, because i wanted to be like my dad. someone who knew a lot about cars and knew how to drive. I've been going with him to the LA auto show since i was 11. But then i stopped living with him for family reasons and for a brief moment in high school i didn't care much about cars. I wish i had spent more time with my father and his engine shop earlier in my life, so i wouldn't be as clueless about engines and such =/

Then i got my license, i wanted a cool bling bling car but my dad got me a 87 corrolla FX instead (FWD, 4AG, auto). It was really fun to drive. Then, in my senior year of high school... I met Danny (DriftingPanda). He took my car out to slide around every time i came to his house, i was still disinterested in the entire thing. A bit ****ed off sometimes at how much gas he wasted tho ;). Danny was also the first person to show me Initial D... but i didn't care about it when i saw it the first time.

I didn't like the little red car, it had too many problems. my dad found another car for me. a 87 integra (i like how a lot of previous 240 owners owned hondas before). I didn't mod it at all, but its the car that got me to love driving. It handled well and was hella fun to drive.

Then my best friend got a new celica GT (2000) and started talking about cars a lot. During anime club freshman year they showed Initial D, it got me hooked. However, at first, i just wanted a 5 speed, doesn't have to be rwd or drift machine or whatever. couldn't convince my dad to help me do a 5 speed swap into my teg even when the auto tranny died a couple times. It had too many problems so i started looking for another car. narrowed it down to the MR2 turbo and s14. Kouki s14s were hard to find, i was pretty much ready to take a loan for a 91 mr2 turbo when my dad calls me up one day and said his friend found a s14 5 speed at a car auction. We got the car, it was base model, had a lot of miles and some minor problems. It was slow it seems at first and heavy compared to my teg. But it has grown on me since.

Why i got my 240:
1) when i started searching for a 3rd gen teg GSR, i realized how many there were and how everyone drove it. I wanted a RSX, but i couldn't afford it when it first came out. Didn't want a 5 year loan. So i decided on non-honda.
2) Initial d got me into thinking about drifting and rwd. but i didn't like any of the cars in initial d except for the FC and FD. I read up on those and decided i didn't want something that just choke one day.
3) i started searching for rwd cars that were NOT in initial d. Found the s14 and mr2 (which both happens to be in Initial D in later stages that i haven't watched at that time).

So now i have my s14. i love it, i will never sell it, it has the potential to do EVERYTHING i want to do as a car enthusiast. Autox, drift, drag, road race. It is also a very easy car to work on and will teach me a lot about cars and how they work.

i wanted to have high trap speeds and fast 60 fts. rwd was the way to go, the aerodynamicd of the 240sx hatch were unbeatable and the wieght to potential power ratio is huge. Plus i can do those v8 style burnouts with my front brakes locked....thats the real reason hahah

Well, lets see...

Way back in 1996, wanted a car, looked around for the usual used integra/prelude/accord ex/civic ex that were 4 yr old or so (1992 model year) for less than 10g..

And to my amazement, all used ones are over 10g's, yes, even the civics (ridiculously popular at the time), so I looked at other options and behold, 240's were a lot cheaper, had higher hp/torque than my original options and looked really cool.

Never really considered what a plus rwd was and never saw drifting until after I got my car while watching some really old option videos/mags back in the late 90's.. and yes, I'm another one that has never seen Initial D yet...

And I was getting into my car, visited www.240sx.org quite a bit, liked their faq a lot, learned to make my own K&N cone filter mod which I still have on today, helped me greatly when I was installing my RSR springs (when Racing Beat used to carry RSR), and they had about 20k hits on their counter back then...
Never heard of Zilvia and FA was just a place to see what Noel Saw is putting up for Nissan news, and the forum wasn't there or kept crashing.

I'm busy most of the time, so I don't post much but I do view every now and then, moreso recently than before...

and I'm still driving the same 92 hb with everything almost else stock, and after driving over 100k on the car, the only thing broke was the water pump, changed clutch once 100k ago when I bought the car...

I can easily afford other cars in the past years, but I like my 240 too much and I wanted to drive it till it completely breaks down...

whateverjames

It was rare and it looked cool. I didn't care about RWD drive or handling or anything, I just wanted a car to put a nice stereo in. When I test drove it, I realized it was RWD, it handled great and had decent power. One month later I got an exhaust system, air filter, and several months after that, suspension upgrades and I really didn't do anything great as far as a stereo system went. This car changed me.

*Raises Hand* I've never seen Initial D either.

I was originally wanting a Prelude. Knowing I would never get one soon I wanted something cheaper to buy/maintain. I was reading a LOT about other kinds of imports. Then I came across the 240 at this very site. I did quite a lot of reading before I ever posted but I was hooked after seeing pictures of a FB and reading it was RWD. Ever since then I've be SLOWLY saving and now I'm about to own one.....hopefully.....:D

Was either deciding on an AE86, 240sx fastback, or an mr2 turbo.
So one day while doing my homework I'm browsing the local classifieds when i see this 91 mr2 turbo that has a full tom's kit and has an upgraded ct26 trimmed turbo. It had 100K miles and he was sellin it for $4800. At thie point i was going nuts and called up a good mechanic friend of mine and went out across the bay to SF and compression checked the car and everything.

Something felt fishy about the car and my friend told me someone had messed with the timing and the compression was pretty low. on the way back he convinced me that all second gen mr2's are BANK for maintennance. So im thinkin, alrite, its the hachi.

So now everynite, instead of the previous mr2, i start dreaming and thinking about hachis nonstop. I basically end up livin on club4ag.com and after a lot of readin, i realized it actually costs a bundle to repair everything and make it look ok. Plus, bcuz of that damn initial AHH! prices were goin up like crazy on those cars.

So i was like arg, and i decided alrite, its the 240sx fastback. I dont find any nice fastbacks for a while then i see this beautiful, sexy 90' coupe with a 93 front end. Its black, looks like a beast and has that super awesome HUD gadget thing. I drove it, and fell in love with the torquey KA24 and the crisp handling. Wasn't too fond of the coupe rear lights but immediately fell in love with em. everytime i see UUIC's (eric) red coupe in his sig, i just get that much happier. So basically all i have to say is, COUPES ARE THE SEX. -that one guy on this forum.

Sorry for the long story, its just that when i start writin anything bout 240's i find it hard to stop :)

dad was into driving, so had me driving 5spd since i was 15. flash foward a few years. sick of driving, commuting back and fro to rutgers for hours everyday at 80mph on i95. met gf. gf makes me watch initial d. for the first time since i was like 16, i was interested in driving again. didn't kno much at the time; i thought that drift was faster (laugh) and that people could actually drift perfectly like they do in intial D (constant throttle and countersteer... so clean compared to real life). i wanted to be a drifter for about a month until i learned grip was faster.

flash foward a year, my old car was totalled while parked :T . needed a car. looked into getting a FR b/c i wanted to learn how to drive -rwd-. looked into options. SC300, miata, rx7, 240sx, mr2. needed a car to graduate from college (missing classes while i didn't have a car...). sc300 is too expensive, rx7 is too unreliable, mr2 never saw one for sale, miata is too damn small. wanted a s13 coupe (altho i didnt know the difference between s14, s13fb and s13cp, and i found a 95 240sx. looked a little different then i expected but i ended up buying it. didnt realize for 2 months that i didnt get the car i wanted...

edit : mr2 is not fr :P changed fr to rwd -_-"

My dad is a smart mothafucka, he believes that NO mothafucka under the age of 18 should be driving.

At 18, I wanted a 90-96 NA Z32. Dad says "fuck you," slaps me upside the head and then suggests a 240SX. I say "uh.. sure."

We look at many S13's, I didnt like coupe's and I didnt like the S14's... so after 6 months of searching, I finally found the car that I own today.

Thanks Dad. I would have kicked myself in the ass for owning a 3450lb NA V6 that I would hate to work on.

i wasnt into the whole car thing before i bought my s13...i almost bought a vw corrado beofre this...

mainly i wanted a good looking car that wasnt expensive, got good gas mileage and was a little peppy...and thats everything the 240sx is...i love mine and will peobably never sell it, just make it a lifelong project, plus for some reason insurance doesnt classify it as a sports car (one good thing about 2+2 and 4cyl)

man, i really truly do love my car

Hrmm it was only 8 months ago that i realized i needed a car to communte from daly city to san jose to goto school. I needed something very cheap and some what 'fast' and good looking. My friend had a 240 and he was the only person i knew that was interested on cars. So yeah, summer of this year i bought one. I never really remembered the 240 from any initial d and what not, never really cared. But yeah whew, good thing my friend came along because i woulda gotten a celica or something.

oh yeah right when i got my car is when i started learning about cars, i never really was interested in learning things i dont have so I didnt know really care for an SR or something. BUt arg!! all these hating on people saying they're poseurs and ricers just sorta brainwashed me to hate so many other cars. =\

This is long; read teh between the "====" if u dont want to read the whole thing

I have been into cars my entire life. RC/cars, Hotwheels, model cars, GT, GT2, GT3, etc. When I was 5 years old, my Dad bought a NISSAN BlueBird (AKA Maxima). It was called a BlueBird in Panama. I also remembered when the frist z31 came out. I love that car, love NISSANs.

Because I had to save money for school and spend most of my time studying, I never had time to get into cars as much as I have liked.

After I graduated, that was last year, my Dad bought me a 1992 240sx Hatch SE as a graduation gift. It was automatic, but I loved the car; it was my first time driving a RWD car. I moved back to CA after college and finally had some money to buy a car on my own. Without any second thoughts, I looked for a 93 240sx coupe 5SPD and found one within a month.

==============================================
Reasons for choosing a 93 240sx coupe 5speed?

After driving my hatchback, I loved the car's handling. I thoguht it was very practical, easy to mod, cheaper to mod, very light car, easy to mod as well, cheap insurance, and car is pretty cheap, and reliable. Initial D got me to like the car more. - those are my reasons.

==============================================

I have watched initial D, and beeing able to drift with control looks awesome. So far, I have upgraded my suspension and put on z32 wheels. First, I would like to learn to grip drive, before i play around with drifting. However, I will have to wait until I know i have a steady job in the future to spend any more money.

Well, I first grew up with the "classics". My dad bought me my first car...a 74 Nova. I learned how to work on old cars like my moms 68 Mustangs & my dad's 68 camaro and 40 ford truck. I complained a lot...but I had fun. Then I went to work for good year and learned a lot more in the 4 years I was a manager/tech for them.

Ok now how I got my 240's....

My first ride ever in a 240 was in high school...in the the back seat with 2 other people. The fit was tight as hell. But I loved my friends coupe. I wanted one sooo bad. But I ended up getting my nova. I got tired of rolling in the bench seat "beast" and sold it.
My next love was a 1988 mazda b2200...lowered and rocking the bass. Hence my "BASSGRL" spl plates. Then it died on a cold winter day in ALbuqerque. I got back to cali and needed a new car fast...so I opted for a 2000 civic from the dealer ( I got a hookup on price) mainly for price and gas economy.
I started dating kevin (mr meph) an dhe had a 240. I remembered how much I loved my friends coupe...so I stole his every chance I got. We were married a few years later and he bought me a 1993 burgundy FB for $2300. I had it for 6 months and decided I really wanted a coupe.
We sold the 93 and found me an 89 coupe power everything for $1500. Poor girl was soo mistreated, we babied her back into her present self, wich is no where near done. She is getting some new wheels this weekend, and a paint job in the next month or 2....and a few goodies you all might be seeing really soon. But you have to wait...just be patient...;) But yeah, I am kinda hoping that the 240 becomes a collector item, kinda like the old classic mustangs and camaros. We can dream can't we?

years of working on cars around a '77 Camaro, i wanted a camaro (be like my uncle, who taught me most of what i know).

found out insurance would rip me a new one so i needed something slightly more practical. began looking for a prelude (insurance would still rip me a new one, oddly enough).

after watching some of the first raw eps of initial D i wanted something RWD.

couldn't find a good FC.

bought an S13 (got ripped by insurance anyways).

crashed the s13.

figured i still like 240's, but i should really get something more practical.

couldn't find a good '94-97 Accord wagon.

bought an S14, which ends up being more deadly than the camaro (with the quickness).

The reasons why i bought my 240 are..They are my favorite cars in the world (S13's,14's and 15's), it was dirt cheap, not a lot of people have 240 here(Well not compared to all the honda and acura owners) i can be more of an indiviual with a 240 then a civic, the 240 i have has way more potential then the civic i had, i don't have payments anymore, and drifting in a FWD car isn't my idea as fun...Those are the reasons why i bought my 240

Same reason as you and mostly everyone else. A while back I had to choose between it and another car and chose the other car. Then I went to a Drift Event and saw the Japanese.

The car was pretty sold the next week and got my 240 soon after.

because it's the most fun car i could afford to purchase and maintain that i could fit all of my bass equipment into.

after owning 5 VW's and having mixed experiences, i felt like it was time for a change. It was between a 91 Civic Si or my car. I've driving my buddies 90 Si a bunch so i knew how it drove, and when i drove the 240 within 5 minutes i knew i had to have it.

however, i seriously brought my upright with me when i went to pick it up a day after driving it, just to make sure it would fit :D

Actually I was trying to get a 200sx. I went to check out a couple and they were all riced out. One faithful day I was sitting on the toilet reading the autotrader and I spoted a black s14 for $3800. I thought it was a steal at the time so I picked it up. It was in *really* good condition. Some old lady owned it. It's my commuter car and my Mustang takes me places on the weekend.

- I love civic and VTEC but they steal them too much here in NYC
- The S13 is just a damn sexy car when it hooked up right
- RWD
- Inexpensive when I started my project..but then it became ever so popular, and expensive:cry:

- All my friends drove turbo charged(GTI-R POWERED!) nissan fwd cars so why not be the only RWD

Why am I buying a 240? simple, I totalled my WRX without insurance (thanks to the wife) and am now making minimum wage while freelance designing on the side.

I am prepping a car to replace the WRX as my daily driver and auto-x car, and the S13 fits all of my criteria. Cheap, moddable and RWD, not to mention I like the look. I may attend some drift events as well, so... its perfect.

I was tired of my mustang (Nellie). So I went looking for a new car. This was back in 1997. I narrowed it down to a s13 hb and a Toyota 4x4. I could not afford the insurance on the truck. So I took the 240 home for the afternoon and I fell in love with the fit.

So it was the ...
1. affordability
2. sporty look
3. the fit

Since then I have purchased 3 others. The 1st and 2nd have gone on to Nissan heaven. I am currently on my 3rd and 4th 240s and I have always been very happy with them all. I would not hesitate to get another if anything was to happen to the ones I have now.

I was at the washington DC auto show in the nissan booth and everyone was around the last model year 300zx. There was another car off to the side. no one was around it so I went over to take a look. My dad and I had no idea what it was. My dad thought it was a baby-z(bad nissan marketing). I fell in love with the 240 then and there. I couldn't buy my own car so I stoped thinking about it.
Then SCC and Super Street started running articles on the 240 and I started to remeber the trip to the auto show and how much I love the car.
I finaly got enough money to by a car and dumped my first car(stupid hand me downs). Found an S14 and have been happy ever sence.

I was pretty desperate for a car since my Civic was stolen from school last year. I was all ready to purchase a 1997 Integra when just for the hell of it, I did a search for a 95+ S14. I came across my future S14 in a used car lot near my school on AutoTrader.com. I took one look at that car and knew I wanted it. After 7 hours (I kid you not) I negotiated the price from $5795 to $5100 and ended up getting it for $5500 ($400 tax, license, plates and smog) out the door.

I got it because, the price was right. I also thought it would've been nice to own a Nissan since my first two cars were Hondas. Never watched an Option Video in it's entirety prior to buying the car. The only anime I watched would be Intial DD (hentai version of Intial D where Takumi was replaced with some generic anime chic).

i walked into a dealership. i wanted a sports car fc 300zx. we've had a mazda before until it borke, ahem. so the white fc at the dealer was out of the question then i passed these headlights that were staring at me, then i looked back. it had this mean look. so i asked it " do you want some of this?!" then we bought it and i beat the crap out of it. but in the end i became the s14's b*tch.

Used to drive a Z32 2+2 auto(mom's car), but it was too much of a porker. Then I bought my own 1973 240z and spent about as much time working on it as driving it. I wanted something that'd give me the driving spirit of the 240z with the comfort of the Z32... so the 240sx seemed like the right fit. After spending a year test driving about 20 examples, a lady traded mine in at work (dodge dealership) and I snatched it up for the trade-in value +$500. Not bad... thanks Linda Lopez, whoever you are! :boink:

i came to find out about the 240sx in a really roundabout fasion. about a year ago a guy i knew wanted to trade me his porsche 924 for my nissan hardbody i didn't do it for financial reasons but had allways kicked myself becasue it would have been so much fun. so as i was searching the internet for things about my truck i run across this little car called a 240sx beacase it has the same engine. the more i learned about the car the more i realised that this car was basically a 924 with nissan reliability and pricing (i have been a fan of nissan since my my dad first got his pickup and later gave it to me). so i go out looking for s13s and i can't find a good low milage 5sp anywhere. for some reason i went and looked at an s14 i instantly fell head over heals in love i didn't end up getting that one but a couple of weeks after that i found my self a great buy on a 95 and picked it up.

i went 96 grand am 4 door, wanted more sporty, the 96 got totaled so i got a 98 grad am gt 6 cyl, thinking the 6 cyl would be faster, then i went to a 93 5spd laser for cheapness and it was stick, then i got a 240, the first time a saw a 240 was 4 years ago at a gas station i asked my friend what it washe tols me, it was a white 13 fastback with a body kit, i loved the car but at the time i had just got my grand am gt and had not money to have a summe ronly car, then in madison 1 year later a fast back tried racing my friends dads yukon on the way to a badger game and it sounded like it was some kinda low bosst ka-t, the guy was gridin gears and u could hear the blow off and the yukon wasted him. i almost thought they were gay, but then my dad made the coment that guy cant shift for shit.

but my other reason than instanly thinking they were sweet cars
so much easier to work on rwd
rwd seems easier to up grade power and have a driveable car still
nissan made
they are a real sports car unlike my grand am gt
so modable, unlike the grand am, grand am parts cost so much cause only like one comapny made parts, other wise you had to get your own made.
i ve had mine for almost a year, i have wanted one for about 3 years, and started to plan mine about 2 years ago...................

Was looking for a either a MR2 or a Prelude. Wanted to stay the hell away from civics and integs. While I was out in MS, I saw a champagne zenki, did my research and was gonna try to get it. Somebody beat me to it so i hit auto trader. Checked out 95 and ups and first thing that popped at me was my baby...*97 RED 240sx SE with only 27k on it* saw the headlights and i was in LUST!!!! I was holy shiet...f8ck a prelude...thats sick. Needless to say...nearly 3 yrs later and odometer at 110k miles im still inlove with my b8tch *well unless a 95 SW20 drops on my lap*:D

Initial D!

And yall think I'm joking...

Way back in like 99 or so my friend showed me Initial D. (theyre called crappy Japanese grocery store tapes!)

Then I saw Impact Blue. Gasp! The coolest car I have ever seen in my life! Those wheels! Those tail lights! That front end! That bumper! The hot chicks inside!

I had to have it. :)

I didn't know much about cars back then, but my coworker (who also showed me Initial D) explained to me everything about the S-chassis (He didn't drive one, but he knew a lot about it), the differences and whatnot. He also explained to me that if I wanted that front end and the tails I'd have to get them from Japan!

He told me to go to Jtown and check out some of the car mags so I did.. then I saw a S13 Silvia.

ooh :D

As much as I liked that Sileighty thing, I preferred the look of the Silvia. :D

And here I am.

I wanted something rear wheel drive and small for a long time. I was looking for an MR2 and couldn't find one, so I looked for 240s and couldn't find any. Eventually I gave up and started looking for a daily driver because my old Lincoln Town Car was on the verge of death, and I stumble accross this red 89 coupe. Rear wheel drive, small, not American like my crappy Lincoln. OK.

I also wanted something I hadnt seen around here. Hence the MR2 desire. I had got myself stuck on the idea of RWD because all my friends with FWD are all about show cars and I just wanted to seperate myself from that. At the time there were no MR2s and the only other 240s around here were S14s or just peoples daily drivers. The search was hard since we get a lot of rust on cars here due to road salt.

I love this car and allthough I have had some problems with it in the past. I plan on keeping it until I die or it is totalled. I will probably buy another one eventually and do something truely insane to it. Who knows?:)
