This is kind of an unusual question, but is it possible to separate the 'hub' (the part that the pulley mounts to) from the rest of the water pump?
I would look at my pump, but I am not able to at the moment.
Thank you for any info.

Nope, I just have a single belt setup in mind that I would like to try out.

serpentine belt?

I've always been against that idea personally, only because when that one belt breaks you lose your power steerings, water pump, a/c and alternator in one fail swoop.

yes

both ends are pressed onto the shaft. why not a custom pulley? If you do make one, go ever so slightly larger in diameter to slow the rotational speed if you are in higher rpms often. Cavitation is a mofo and will kills parts/engine...
