How big is your TV? I think I know what size I want for my next one, but curiosity is making me ask this question. Anyone with HDTV amazed by it?

Soon to upgrade to HDTV. I have a hookup to get bigscreen TVs at cost.:D ;)
This is my TV Timeline...
03-14 Years Old = 13" Mystery TV from Ancient Times
14-15 Years Old = 25" RCA (Dropped it while moving and it still works!)
15-18 Years Old = 32" Sony (Sold it due to high resell value)
18-22 Years Old = 25" Toshiba (Brothers TV I stole from him since hes of playing Baseball)
Future TV: $300 32" Sylvania :)
TV is boring, and I have no point to pay for Cable now that the Avalanche lost :( Only thing its good for is Video Games.

I'm not poor, I just don't care enough...
My 13" TV is one I got for free from my parents, it's a TV/VCR combo, they got rid of it because it could no longer record properly (still plays tapes fine). It's nasty... it was in the kitchen in their house so the buttons are all sticky (hahaha).

Damn you Rash for posting that pic, makes me want one! I think I'm gonna get a 36 incher and hold off on the HDTV till prices come down. Just not worth it till its more implemented, though the movie watching would be awesome.
Hockey people, did you forget about my little old lighting team tearing it up :o :p

The best TVs are the ones that are the size of most entertainment center today even though the screen is only 27". They are good conversation starter at parties :)

i've been researching the HDTV options. the suckiest part is that to get HDTV signals, you have to buy a separate HDTV tuner (for another $400-800). without it, you'll just be watching DVDs and video games in Hi-Def. honestly, that still sounds tempting to me, but it's just frustrating to know that HDTV is still a few years from mainstream.
oh, another thing to think about:
a 30" 16:9 is equivalent in picture WIDTH to a 36" standard screen (4:3). this means that a small 30" widescreen will look just like a 36" when you watch a widescreen movie.

54" widescreen panasonic in the living room. (not mine)

32" Sanyo
It's pretty nice but it makes this annoying high-pitched sound for awhile untill it's warmed up. And not like the normal sound a TV makes when it's on. Other then that it's fine. As for HDTV, it looks SO DAMN GOOD. But, like uiuc said, it's still a little while away from mainstream. I guess you could just buy one that is HDTV ready and just watch DVD's and play games on it till HDTV is mainstream then get it then if you really wanted to. Also, Don't some of the Sony's or other HDTV's actually do something to improve the quality of normal cable and satelite?
I've been looking into a Sony Wega for awhile but I haven't been able to get money inline. And now that I'm getting a 240.....:D (hopefully tues)....I won't be able to get one till this one craps out....cause all my money will be goin to the 240....oh and my g/f......

BTW--We have a 19" OLDOLDOLDOLD console TV (ya know--with the HUGE wooden box around it and wheels on the bottom?)--great for holding piles of mail, lol, a 19" Sony z-basic TV, and 27" Phillips TV (the only one currently plugged in, although the other 2 work just fine)

27 inch Magnavox (It MUST be old, if it is still a magnavox as opposed to Philips, even older if not Philips/Magnavox, but she serves me well, makes my porn... er, video games/family programming look good after a million years of service) in the bedroom and a 62 inch RCA (another pretty damn old TV) in the living room.

But it's great when your girlfriend sucks.....
Back on topic.....27" Sony Wega in my living room. Got it for cheap when my gf's brother upgraded to hdtv. I used to be into home theater and having a big TV, but I really don't care that much anymore.
My parents have a 60" 16:9 tv in the basement. It's pretty cool, but so not worth what it would have cost full price back when it was new.

I don't think people realize how inexpensive HDTVs have gotten in the last few years. You can now get a Samsung 32" 4:3 or 30" 16:9 for under $1,000!!! And Samsung is an incredible tv for the money. As far as the programming, that all depends on where you live. Down here in San Diego they're actually doing a really great job and the cable companies are broadcasting a surprising number of channels in HDTV. As far as the extra tuner, most cable companies that are broadcasting in HDTV will provide you with a tuner for little or no additional cost. If you're in a market with no HD cable, you're SOL for now, but don't worry, it won't be long before HDTV is everywhere. Oh man, it's been a while since I got to use my Best Buy knowledge http://www.mustangworld.com/forums/images/smilies/rockwoot.gif

Get the guns aligned. Mitsubishi rocks, you just need to follow the maintainance schedule.
