im sorry, im asking for
"HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE" lamps.
REAL HID kits please, not the "xenon gas filled 40 dollar halogens"

No 240SX headlights will cast a correct beam pattern with an arc-discharge light source.
Some S15 Silvias came with HID lighting, IIRC, but they'll cost you a mint, and the beam pattern will still be wrong (reversed).

are you referring to Kook's post?
That is REAL HID! 4300K iirc.
anythign above that isnt as effective, just useless i forget. kook can explain it best.
S15 HID headlights run like $800+...sometimes no bulbs and harnesses too (xenon HID i think?)

True "Xenon" is more expensive thatn HID. I got some Q45 gatling on the way. BIATCH!

What the what now?
High Intensity Discharge (HID) refers specifically to what happens when you put a very high voltage across a tube of xenon gas. It's the same concept as a camera flash, but continuous.
There are plenty of non-HID bulbs that pretend to be HID using a color filter, or by adding a touch of useless inert xenon gas into the gas mixture inside the otherwise normal light bulb, just enough to call themselves "xenon lights".
There are also plenty of HID setups that are indeed HID tubes, but they suck because they fit into reflectors or projectors designed for bulbs. I think this might have been what you were talking about; this is "true HID/Xenon" but it sucks donkey balls. This is what most people get with an "HID conversion". It's lame. Don't be that guy!
Now if you get the full Q45 'gatling' projectors along with the tubes etc., then you have a fully functional HID setup. Clearcorners.com's setup is also like this, he uses a projector designed for HID tubes, not a projector designed for a light bulb (though he sells those also, with light bulbs in 'em).

What about the newer CATZ HID conversion kits? (http://www.liteswap.com/)
They claim to have eliminated the beam pattern problem that the older HID kits suffer from (check the FAQ on that site). Anyone have any experience with these?

i've had lots of experience with drop in HID kits into housings meant for halogen bulbs. They by no mean suck! They in fact kick ass. The beam pattern may be different but they still throw so much light that most people don't care. As for putting HID into projectors, it is the best of both worlds because projectors cut off the top of the beam and greatly reduce glare for other drivers. The beam pattern is affected less when putting HID into projectors too for some reason.

Thank you Aaron!
Yes, the real deal , HIDs. Not Sylvania Silverstars. They look yellow because of the flash. The temp is 4200k, same as all other OEM lights. If you look at lumen output, 6000k always puts out about 30% less light than 4200k.
