rb20det question!

ok i just picked up this rb20det cheap and when i go to drive it it cut out bad to where it not driveable befor Boost and i looked at Idle and TPS are all the way out to keep it idling ok

255 weblo fuel pump
Z32 fuelfilter

Stock no Mods


checked

Coils Ok
Ignitor chip it ok and have spaire
checked maf it looks ok
Injectors ok
Checked ECU it ok

Next i am checking for boost leakes


What could be Wrong? any ideas I hope

Adjustable FPR? If not might be running pretty rich with the Walbro.

im pretty sure your alt is bad or its not getting power to start it or keep it running,

well what alt would work i get for the rb20 that will bolt on? will a ka24e alt work?

forgot to add this info

when car is cold it kinda misfire when i go up in rpm when it did run

and once warm up it what to shut off on Idle misfires more


and IAC vavle that does idle is all way out and TPS is all the way to one side to keep this motor running when it did run kinda .. :(

and i checked ground it all good
and check all wires going to ecu to ign chip they are all good

Timming is 100% on right



and my coils are not getting any power it looks like? so i found all the wire from ign chip to ECU they all look good

now i just cant find the 12v and other wires to coils to power them to see if they are cut or something if it warm or hot it looks like it doent what to start at all but cold i got it to start 1 time

CHECK THE COIL PACK AND THE COILS. THE PACKS GO BAD ON THOSE ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE 2 OF MINE DUE TO OVERHEATING OF THE COIL PACKS. ALSO DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND UPGRADE TO THE Z32 IGNITOR CHIP. ITS SMALLER, EASIER TO FIND, AND ITS AN UPGRADED DESIGN TO THAT OF THE RB20. and what coils could i use on Rb20 Z32 to?

well can anyone help me find where the Main power wire to coils go's maybe and is there a relay for the coil 12v somewhere

WELL FOR THE IGNITOR CHIP RUN A Z32 IGNITOR CHIP. ITS A BASIC REPIN OF THE CONNECTORS AND A JUMPER WIRE. THIS THREAD SHOWS YOU LITERALLY EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO DO.

AS FOR THE COILPACKS, YOU WOULD HAVE TO FIND RB20 PACKS. Z32 PACKS DO NOT WORK.

THE COIL PACKS HAVE 3 WIRES TO EACH OF THEM. ONE IS A GROUND, ONE IS A 12V POSITIVE, AND THE OTHER IS A SIGNAL WIRE FROM THE IGNITOR CHIP. THE COILS SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE 12V ON THE +, AND VOLTAGE TO THE SIGNAL ONLY WHEN THE PACK IS SUPPOSED TO FIRE.

THERE IS NO RELAY TO THE PACKS. ONLY 12V TO THE POSITIVE SIDE AND SIGNAL.

harness is a mess everything works but Coils got no power i check all wire but 3 wires i cant find White wire and the black and black with red

i put money on the cas being bad or not timed correctly(try removing it spining it a couple of times and follow the ignition timing procedure in the fsm.)

Ok todays update

Got New Used CAS tested works perfect i can hear injectors clicking
ign chip was tested on another RB20det works
ECU was retested and Works perfect

timing is spot on

Vacuum line was all replaced and checked FSM Make shur they are all hooked up correct


all piping is nice and sealed no leaks


and still wont run

Cranks and cranks i can smell fuel and it backfired becouse of fuel

So U think replacing my Engine harness and complete rewiring it for s13 since the old owner i guess didnt do it right...

Are you sure it gets spark? try taking a spark plug out hooking it up touch it to the block and crank it, you should see a spark.

we did it It did a real weak Spark my dad said he was watching it for me :)


welll i was over looking wiring and it all hacked and plus i was trying to find out why i have no tac no temp or anything or CEL at all on cluster

i trying to check the wires to see what get ~~~~~ signal wire ~~ 12v wire ~~ ground

I was using my meter and i get a 12v on black with red line

White wire not one thing :(

black checked Good :)
