Im wondering why some turbo elbows are sectioned. What exactly does this do? Whats the advantage of it?

this has been covered before.

It seperates the W/G gases from the turbine gases to reduce turbulance when the W/G opens

and what does that affect? is it better to have it seperated? what can happen from it not being seperate?

Better flow from the turbine wheel = more power. It has the possibility to make a difference, but the reason most people like that is so they can run screamer pipes (have the turbine wheel exhaust flow through a muffler, and the wastegate exhaust go straight to atmosphere - makes the car SUPER loud when the wastegate opens.
