me and a friend want to lower a vehicle just for looks. its an old car, mainly for a joke, and then put my 17's on it and drive around. trust me, i have the money to professionally lower a car, but the lowering would cost more than the car itself

lol. that'll leave a bit of wheel wobble.... he'd want to leave the struts in and ride on bumpstops.

is it possible to put some kind of a clamp in the springs, just to compress them a bit?

He said cheap guys, why the hell would he want to go to the trouble of REMOVING them when he could just heat them until they sag, stop applying heat when it sits where you want it... I saw a guy do this to a 84 monte carlo once, but it bounces all over the place when he drives it...

BTW: Is ANY of this safe?

That's what we did on my 90 Coupe, Granted it was gutted to all hell and I could lift it off the ground. I have some pictures somewhere, if it had some daytons I could have sold the shell for a million... Pecos!

Probably less safe than turbocharging your mom's car with a blow-drier, but more safe than sawzalling your car in half.

Yea cut the springs that's the easiest thing to do, but the ride is so bad when you cut stock springs...Soooo bouncy

You could just deflate your tires & roll on your rims. You'll be pretty low at that point.

good one. Too bad that would crap the rims..

Why not get some 14" wheels with a 30 profile tire?

In deed it is a very stupid question, just like cutting spring. just to answer your question you need spring compressors to take the springs out.
You've been in here for 3 months, haven't you learned anything?

You're missing the obvious, add more weight!

Add cinderblocks to the trunk and engine bay.

I'd love to see an S13 slammed with some 14s with lopros.. but WIIIIDE 14s.. like hachiroku with flares wide. I think that'd be cool. well.. at least interesting.

Hmmm.. I must admit that it would be interesting to see. Do 13" rims clear calipers and rotors? It's cheaper than 14" with low-profile tires. He did say that he wanted the cheapest way.

true.. but where would you find 13"s in our lug pattern?

removing the springs entirely seems to be the best way. just do that, it'll take about 30 minutes with a spring compressor.

you could probably go to the junkyard and find 4 donuts that fit, aren't those like 13's?
