Greetings everyone,

I own a 1993 240SX Automatic.
The car is a hand me down from my uncle.

So the car wouldn't start so I had the battery tested and it was bad.

I put in a new battery and the car still wouldn't start.
(keep in mind the check engine light is on)

I thought it'd be the starter since it wasnt cranking so I took out the starter and had it tested also. It worked fine as I replaced not too long ago also.

I would like your inputs on what may be the problem, Much help appreciated!
Nice to meet you guys

check your starter relay and your ignition switch.

I am having somewhat of the same problem. I put a new battery in, it sounds like it wants to crank but it doesn't. The guy I got it from mentioned turning the engine over manually!? I have no idea how to do that. Any help? It is also an automatic, 90, 240

He's incorrect, there is no starter relay on an automatic car. However you have an inhibitor switch on the transmission, try forcing it further into park, then try starting it in each gear position (hold the brake obviously). Sometimes the switch just goes bad, or it's possible the bolts have become loose, allowing the switch to rotate a little. It's got an adjustment on it to fine tune the gear positions, if it's moved you may not get contact until you move the lever a little.

Other than that, check the key switch for full rotation and current through each circuit.

Thanks, any other ideas before I go test out all these solutions?
