alright guys a quick question about offset for the Volk Racing Gram Lights 57c in gold.
I am about to order some gram lights and am going to go with 17X7.5 and am thinking about going w/ the +30 offset (the only offsets available that I saw were +40, +30, and +22 for 4X114.3) because I think +22 offset would stick out. So I hope that 30 should sit pretty flush.
My main question was about if these would clear z32 brakes, and possibly coilovers because I plan on doing the brake upgrade in the future.
any input would be greatly appreciated. If you guys can think of any problems w/ running that size/offset let me know.
Thanks a lot.

+30 will be relatively flush, and clear coilovers. It's the best fit either way...
It should clear Z brakes easily, but I have no direct experience. The spoke design is conducive to brake clearance, though.

+30 will fit fairly flush, and should not have any problems rubbing. The spokes on the gram lights are curved pretty aggresively, so they should clear z-brakes. As far as clearing coilovers, I would think you'd have no problems with that size and offset.
Just curious.. Does anyone know the distance in mm the stock 6.5" wheel is from the lip? from the stock shock body?
Front & Rear?
If not, I'll try and get these measurements. If you have these measurement, you can plug your wheel size and offsets into an equation, and find out if they will clear or not. Someone could make a Java calculator. :D

+30 wont be flush at all, not without a spacer
r32 gtr 16x8 +30 requires a 5mm or so spacer to make flush w/ fender. anyways, should look good. presonally i'd go w/ the +22 for super flush look. and a wider wheel, 7.5 is pretty puny for 17s. my 15s are 7.5
go 17x9 at least
anyways, my guess you should clear both coilovers and z brakes.
maybe dorifto180sx will jump on this and get some good info for you

sounds good. I was hoping that these wheels would work out for me, and it appears that they are going to.
Thanks a lot for your help.

So the +22's wouldnt stick out, I figured they would. My major concern is I do NOT want a wheel that is going to rub the fenderwell or rub anywhere at all for that matter.
as for the 17X9's I dont feel the need for that wide of a wheel, I am not putting down huge amounts of power and also I have come across a pretty good deal from a local shop on the 17X7.5's, which i still think will look and perform decently.
Thank you for all of your input though.

ah then stick w/ the +30
i think the +22 would be up near the fender (need to roll fenders maybe)
also depends HEAVILY on your tire size choice!

Im probably going with the gram lights as well in the same size. I found this picture on the rays japanese site and it seems +22 would not stick out. It looks pretty flush actually. Will the 22 offset be a problem with brakes or coilovers?

+22 could rub easily but it depends on a number of factors.
Like say 225 tires, and not a lot of negative camber, good chance it will rub.

Don't listen to a word duffman says. He's the last person to ask about correct wheel sizing and offset. :o

Wait, let me see if I just have one thing straight, the wider the wheel/tire is, the easier it is to sit flush, and clear the Z brakes and coilovers? Or am I just a complete idiot?!?

Offset, wheel width, and tire sizes (in no particular order) all determine how flush it will be.
EDIT: and camber, can't forget about our crooked friend :p
The wider the wheel is the higher the offset can be to keep it sitting flush. So its not so much easier on a wide wheel, it all depends on the offset. Wide wheels can still require spacers, but i guess if you look at it in a plain way it might be easier to keep it flush.

Even with +22 offset at 71/2 inch won't be as flush as you would like it to be. I'm using 17x9 +15 in the rear and it's So flush that you could flush a toilet. So if possible go even lower!

Thanx, I was a bit confused. And about that crooked friend.... camber is my enemy! hehe, j/k:p

Looks like it might be a little bit longer for me to get the rims... the deal that I could have gotten on the volks is gone, but I can still get some for a decent price from a local shop whenever I want to order some.
so if i go w/ the 17X7.5's w/ a +22 offset and a say a 215 40zr17 width tire, do you guys think I will have any rubbin goin on?
thanks again.

Eh don't listen me? Nitekids doesnt even have an S13. Assuming this is going on a S13 I am quite correct. S14 and S13 fender clearance is totally different.

duffman may not have the same style to run certain widths/offsets, but he does know them.
no need to be a dick nitekids
yeah s13 and 14 are very differet, though not A LOT enough to make a difference and be noted
7.5 +22 no rubbing coilover
z brakes..ehhhh. not sure.

I don't understand why it's so hard for people to just find this info on their own. Here is the website:
www.rayswheels.co.jp
Go there and click on "Engrish Version"
Then navigate to the part where it shows all the wheels: "Rays Wheels Database"
Click on "Gram Lights"
Click on "57c"
Click on "Size Table"
There you will find that the 17x7.5" 4x114.3 does *not* have a star or a square indicating that it will fit the "big calipers of SKYLINE, FAIRLADY Z (Z32), SILVIA, CELSIOR, SUPRA, RX-7 and IMPREZA (GDB)."
Now, this could be due to the fact that Zs never came with 4 lug hubs, so they may have simply omitted the star...but I doubt that.
It's your job to read through all these tables and do your homework. I've made it so easy a monkey could. :o
Eric
P.S. Sorry for being ****y, but I've posted on Volk Wheel fitments so many times it bothers me that people don't SEARCH.

Well if the 5 lug ones fit "big calipers" i dont see why the 4 lug wouldnt if its the same size as the 5(17x7.5) The only difference is the bolts.
