Hey sukis.....

I have a question that I have not seen anyone talk about throughout the years when discussing oil relocation & cooling. The OE SR20DET oil plate appears to have an anti-drain valve which is internal to the OE housing, remove the cap and you'll find a spring & bearing.. I assume this is to keep the oil in the filter when the engine is shut down.

Now when fuckers relocate, I noticed that the stance and various other brands do not have that provision. Shall we say its not needed or shall we say its a lack of engineering in the aftermarket? Curious to see what the consensus says.

Thanks

I would assume that it is to avoid redundancy. Most new oil filters have an anti-drainback valve in them already. If they work, it would seem that there would be no need to install them into the oil plates.

(An article about Wix adding silicone anti-drain back valves to car/truck oil filters in 2002.)

nevermind...... found the answer

its a pressure relief valve that bypasses the filter should the filter get gummed up. if the filter begins to hinder oil flow, it will open and continue to oil the motor. its a preventative for idiots who dont change their filters often enough, or if the filter gets overloaded.

good to know, now i can continue my oil cooler build
