I recently got an s13 with an rb20det. It has power steering and everything hooked up, but the steering just feels really stiff and strange. I know that one of the wheels is hitting the exhaust pipping when the wheel is turned sharp, and I took it to a garage and there was not much they could do.

Has anyone had any similar problems with the steering with an rb20?

I have the same problem with my RB20. Normal driving the steering is fine, but once I start throwing the wheel around the steering gets stiffer. The car also will not countersteer on it's own. I have to throw the wheel back.

I'm not to sure on what is, but people have told me to adjust the rack to alow more flow into it. Could be a bad PS pump too. My steering shaft sits really close to the turbo elbow, but it only hits it sometimes. That could be part of the problem too.

I have yet to find a solution to this too.

yes this sounds like the same problem that I am having. I would really like to find a solution to this because I am wanting to use it for drifting.

As far as the wheel not returning by it self.

Spray some oil on the u joint on the lower column. That thing can get stiff and make the wheel really stiff and not return. Also get your car on a rack and see what your caster reading is. Out of whack caster can cause the wheel not to return right.
