k so i got pulled over and the officer inspected my car and when it came down to the point where he said "start the car and take ur foot off the clutch", and the motor starts. so then he said u need a neutral safety switch so that when i press the clutch the car starts, i ordered the switch from nissan and it looks plug and play...my problem is since my car is an 89 and its a jdm rhd silvia i believe they dnt come with neutral safety switches even so with the usd modles to so would there be an existing plug in the harness? or do i have to wire it up to something? and if so, how and where do i connect the switch to? thanks a lot i need answers asap cuz the inspection is almost due :s thanks a bunch

did you find out first if its required by state or federal law first? and would it be exempt if the car was factory made that way. a lot, if not most, JDM cars dont have those on manual transmission vehicles. so you may start the car without pushing in the clutch. if your car passed inspection the first time around, you shouldnt have to get it inspected again, at least thats the way i see it right now, and that this guy was just giving you shit for having a JDM car. my RHD S14 is the same way and so are some skylines owners i know, but i dont see em getting dicked around like you just did :cops:

no i didnt change it to auto to manual, and well the cops said i needed one, i believe jdm cars dnt even have them anyways, i think there just tryin to get these cars off the road but does anyone have a clue to where this things connects to or where i can splice it to to make it work? it seems it only needs 2 wires so it has to go in between something

he was probably asking for the clutch interlock. I doubt the car ever had that. I just checked the 89-90 S13 FSM and they don't mention it. The 91-94 S13's for US did have it though.
Take a look at the pics:

If your car never came with it, it's not just plug and play. You would have to do some wiring from the clutch pedal to the fuse box where you would have the relay installed.
