:sadwavey:okay so heres the deal i just recently swapped out my ka24e for a ka24de and on the harness near the throttle position sensor theres a black square plug thats a 3 or 4 prong and i cant for the life of me find out where it goes...the motor cranks and cranks but doesnt turnover. A couple of my friends seem to think that my distributor timing is off but i have the rotor lined up with cylinder #1 on the cap, im not mechanically inclined to even know what the hell to do, and one of my friends says that if i mess with the distributor timing too much i can bend a valve, yeah thats the last thing that i need. i TDC'd my motor and took the valve cover off to see if my camshafts were correct and as far as i can tell they look correct, im getting spark as for fuel i dont know but i believe that i am because i hear the fuel pump kick on when i turn the key to accessory. If the vacuum lines arent hooked up right would that cause it not to start? or just start and run like shit? IF ANYONE HAS PICS OF WHAT THE CAMSHAFTS AND SPROKETS BEHIND THE TIMING COVER ARE SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE TIMED CORRECTLY PLEASE LET ME SEE THEM...AS WELL AS ACTUAL PICS OF THE PROPER VACUUM LINES BEING HOOKED UP THE FSM DOESNT REALLY HELP ME THAT MUCH. I have the jim wolf pics and my camshafts look to be on time, so if it isnt my base timing and there is a possibility that it is my distributor timing as well as my vacuum lines could someone help me figure out how to set the distributor timing without bending the valves and shed some light on the vacuum lines for this n00b...lol? ive searched and searched so i hope no one flames me to bad haha im just a 240 noob tryin to learn...Thanks!

wrong ignition timing isnt going to bend a valve when your trying to get it to run. it just wont run, run cruddy, run stupid. vacuum diagrams are in the fsm. you can download it online somewhere, it's worth it. dont try routing vacuum hoses to someones engine bay, it could be wrong for all we know, use a diagram.

did you take the whole distributor unit out?... if so you could be 180deg. off .... what i would do is... take the set bolts off (the ones that hold the distributor on) and pull it completely out and turn it a little bit.. put it back in and try and crank it over...repeat untill you start to hear the car try and start thats when you close from there leave it in and slowly turn it one way or the other untill you acieve idle.... lmk know how it comes out...im curious if thats the problem or not?

did you set its to tdc on compression stroke?

I'm with the last two guys, I recently replaced my motor, and it kept turning over but would not crank, turns out the dizzy was on the exhaust stroke with TDC, not the compression stroke. Thats probably it, as long as you have spark and fuel.
