Check it out man.

SO, I have a Japanese JDM S13 digital climate control in my car. I have it in there, but it isn't hooked up to anything. I put it in just for looks.

Well, let me tell you this, I don't have many lights and doodads on my dash, so it looks kind of boring at night.

Is there a way I can just hook up like one or two wires so that when I have the car on, all the lights on the Climate Control will turn on?

I just want some flashy things goin on pretty much.

Lemme know.

just hook it up... that turns the lights on dosent it? if you dont want the air on simply dont turn it on

Yeah, I have the thing but no wiring harness or any of that shit.

is there just like one wire I can hook up or something?

Can't I just tie in a wire from my ACC wire on the radio and then attach it to some kind of metal prong on the DCC?

i dont have a dcc, but form my moderate understanding of electrical stuff for cars id say if you splice shit into your radio harness itl affect that. but in sure it would work if you found out wich prong was for the lighting of it. it would probably be smarter just to get the harness. then itl work to:) just remember that if you tieing to systems together(stereo and dcc) its gunna affect 1 if not both. at least thats my understanding.

give it power and it will turn on and operate

i have the color codes in my database

Brian

yeah that's what I figured.

One of those pins must be power.
I just don't know which pin it is.

I assume there are pins sticking out of the back of the thing.
Maybe I should look.

the way to do it is REAL EASY.

buy harness from jeese in japan, and plug it in
its uber easy to finish it up. I have done it. only "hard thing" is making the bracket for blower door.

BH, it was fun rubbing against your boobies at ASB. Thanks for the DVD too.

I believe all the answers you are looking for are in here. Mattback did a write up on this a looong time.

wow, how about that? it's like, someone went back in time and answered your question in the original post. weird.

I guess it's the R/Y and R/L wires that you need to hook up at the "Push Control Unit"? I'm too tired to read the diagram properly.

Red/blue for illumination but JDM cars don't have dimmers so the red/yellow lead for us would be black on the JDM unit. I don't recall the +12V and ACC wires but someone will chime in for certain.

HE HAS NO HARNESS AT ALL.
He want to solder a friggen wire to the back of the UNIT to the PIN! hahaha

Shit. no one reads. Im done.
Good luck doods. :goyou:

well he could probably use the usdm plugs from his regular climate control, depin it and slide on two wires to the back of the desired prongs to give it power and use bubble gum to keep them in place.

ghetto as fuck but reversible.

Where did I say anything about using or not using a harness, asshole? I told him the wire colors he'd need to use, that's it. If someone has a pinout with colors, wouldn't knowing the colors be easier than guessing?

Go fuck yourself, cunt.

BH,
I have a harness box, it's got all the plugs I got from clips.
I'm sure it's got atleast 1 set of interior plugs from the dash.
You know I'll let you go through it and find the plug.
Just let me know later when I'm back.
If you can't wait just go to a shop with a s13 clip and you can find the plug.
Good luck,

Sam

Brian if you had part of the harness it would be simple, just to make it light up.

But theres no way to make the climate controll work without having all the sensors and ducting right? I always wondered if you wired in the harness to your factory harness if you could get all the features to work except the auto feature.

I want the lights to turn on so it looks neat at night. That's it.
Some of yall are looking too far into this.
I figure I need 2 wires at most, Power and ground?

driftastic - don't be so upset. relax for a while.
Since you tried to be tough/funny guy and it didn't work, I'll just answer your question anyways. The point of having it is so that it fills up the big ass rectangle hole that would be there. The USA one looked dumb and old, so I found a J one and put it in it's place. Is that ok with you? If not, let me know. Write me a story in a PM. Thanks.

I have the same problem, except I want the whole climate control unit to work not just the lights. Oh and mines a UKDM s14 so I presume the adaptors will be different to yer ones again ........

Not going to post up anything useful?

Don't bother posting.

It's pretty fucking simple.

so your saying you want your car to look like what I have pictured here? :

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q239/fakeshemp44/Picture522.jpg

I wired mine up and it's fully functional too. But to put it in there just to have it and light up? Random.

you can probly find a diagram for the dcc somewere online. just find the power pin and the ground and you should be good, in theory. but id still just get a harness for it. i thought i saw a post w/ a diagram in here but i dont remember... but im sure theres some way to make it work. afro engineering is a great skill to have :)

Brian
07-31-2009, 11:11 AM
yeah I just want the lights to turn on. Nothing more than that.

Anybody know off hand which pin it is?
That's all I need to know I guess.

93nismo
07-31-2009, 11:17 AM
you could just get a power wire and touch it too all of them one at a time... but i suppose that could potentially break it i assume... lol

Brian, don't know if you ever got this figured out, but I believe you would need to connect upwards to 4 wires to your unit. The illumination wire as russ pointed out, a ground, and obviously a power wire (possibly 2). It all depends on which lights you actually want to light up. Do you want the mid section to light up or just the surrounding lights and buttons?

The way I would go about this is to use the install guides to get at least familiar with some of the wiring from the original harness (since you don't have one). Now that you know the wires you need ask anyone who has the harness or completed the install to direct you to their proper locations on the unit (I can do this for you). Take note of this.

I would then get an FSM for your car and find the power, grounds, and illumination wires from your old a/c harness. Cut the ones you need so you don't have to search for them again and label them.

Now, look at the back of your unit and find a male spade connector that you believe will fit (you'll be cutting the spade in half). You would use have a male spade connector as your connector. Crimp slightly if needed.

Ex.
http://www.mightybigdeals.com/v/vspfiles/photos/032076102432-2T.jpg

Attach a trimmed connector to the labeled wires. Now connect them to the previous labeled pins on the unit.

This is simply a guide as to how I would go about figuring this out. I'm not saying this will work, but in theory it should. Good luck.

yeah man, i understand.

4 wires though..... oh boy.

If I were to like take a AA battery or something and tape some wires to it, then touch them to the pins on the Climate COntrol, would it light up? ...just so I could see what it looks like

AA are like 3.4V I think.

Maybe if you used a few of them it would work.

Get a 9 volt at least.

4 wires is what I currently believe it might be. I haven't looked at the install guides in awhile, but I'm sure with some research it could easily be figured out what exactly would need to be wired in. Plus I don't mind helping out.
