View Full Version : stained glass/windshield/moon roof
Well the car has been sitting for a while, and i THINK that the stains are hard water stains.
so far i have
tried using invisible glass
vinegar
rain-x
window cleaner
using a polisher to polish it out
clay bar
ammonia
but the freaking stains won't come off.....ever time i have attempted to clean it, it would always leave those millions upon millions of spots that won't freaking come offff!!! argggg
what do i do, to get rid of them?

It'll work
Use steel wool and a buffing compound, and basiclly compound the windshield.
Polish off the wax with a clean cloth.
Done and done.

razor blade. Use some windex or something to keep glass wet and scrape at a 45* with the blade. Once it is all off, wax it. So much nicer then rain X or any other product like that.

steel wool will work
it takes WORK though
rub it real hard and real long
lol
I used 800 then worked my way up to 2500. Finished it off with some rubbing compound and a hand held buffer. Glass looks brand new.

what grade steel wool do you guys use? and what do you use it with just water or some sort of chemical? and when you say compound as in clearcoat polishing compound?

Steel wool works great with some automotive grade window cleaner. Gotta try the rubbing compound next time!

razor blade is what I use to scrape water spot off .. leaves it looking new again.

i'll have to try the razor blade.
i mean, the car has been sitting for over a year.
my 3 brake light melted lol. it got too hot.
but i used the fine grade steel wool....and i scrubbed it really really hard. but i'm still seeing millions of spots. and i use vinegar, invisible glass, ammonia as the lubricant, but it's still there.
and it has to be on the outside of the glass. there's no way it could be built up on the inside.
im thinking i need something SUPER ACIDIC to get this shit out.
i'm going to try and use my mini propane tank and try and burn the shit up.

worst comes to worst take it to a detail guy, they are pro at shit like that..they get down

Are you sure the glass isn't just pitted? It's happened to both my S13 and Cherokee.
