RPM hit rev limit on start up

strange thing happen when i started my car after work. My RPM guage went to 8g when i srated my car and back to 1g by it self. I turn the car off and on again and it was fine. Any one seen this happen on s14s if so what is it that cause this to happen?

was it jus the gauge or did the motor rev up that high?

might just be a loose connection

just the guage. yes all the way pass 8g to stoping piont. if it is a loose connection where do I find that conector for the rev limiter?

my coupe did the same thing the other day when i hit the gas the driver window went down and the tach stayd at 8g,turns out i had a short in the pwr window switch

I have no clue at this point. I would hate to buy a guage cluster and find out that was not the problem.

Bust out your ECU, see if any wiring broke. I know on my sr the tach is the orange and red wire, no clue about a KA though.
