View Full Version : do you wave "hi" or give thumbs up to other 240's?

I am used to doing it from when I had a Z. 99% of the Z owners that I waved to waved back or gave a thumbs up. I had a 1974 260Z and even Z32 Owners would pull next to me and say hi or whatever. I wish I still had my Z, Z people are cool.

MR2 people I get about a 70% return, but other 240 owners, I do not get anything back.

I just waved to someone in a 91-93 Champagne colored hatch, (I thought it was a fellow Duck Sniper {Chris}, but it wasn't). He just looked at me with a dorky smirk on his face. Nice looking car, was lowered had wheels, and N1 exhaust. Whoever you are, is it too hard to wave back or give the head nod?

it wasn't a smile. More like a "who the [email protected]#K are you smirk" Ok, maybe FU was too drastik, post edited.

I only wave at the other S14 Kouki driver in town. And he lives in indy, so Bloomington is my turf. Mine alone.

The problem with waving or saying what's up to fellow 240 owners is that the only people who will really know about why you are waving are enthusiast that would be on this site. And everyone in my area that i have seen that own 240s don't belong to this web site or i don't know if they do. Also you might wave to someone that doesn't care about their car or other 240 owners.

that's why i never do unless i know the person.

Are you serious, Aaron? I love the sense of comaraderie that comes with being an enthusiast. VW owners follow this almost to perfection, and when I'm in the GTI, 90% of the time there is a nod, a wave, a "hang-loose". There have been many times when I've been stopped by others or have stopped others to BS about cars in my 5 years of VW ownership, and its been a pleasant experience every time. I've been applying this rule to other cars, as well. Nice AE86? Thumbs up. Nice AW11? Thumbs up. When I encounter another 240, you can bet there will be some kind of "hello" wave, and if its you, Aaron, you better wave back :p :D.

I always get it in my VW - especially because it's visually modified. The VW 'scene' is HUGE around here anyway so it seems like at least once a week I'm giving the wave or thumbs up back to someone.

I never see modified 240SXs.. and when I do they never acknowledge my car because it's stock on the outside.

There's this one guy from my apartment complex that asked me if I wanted to sell my car.. he honks and waves every time he sees me... hahaha. He's driving an old Accord hatch though. He seems cool, hopefully he'll find an S13 on his own, 'cause I'm not selling!

I usually don't acknowledge other 240's unless they initially wave at me. But wait a second....I NEVER see modded S14s. I think I have the only one in Terre Haute. But in Indy I still hardly ever see them. I usually give the thumbs up to Vipers and Z06s and other supercars.

240s, especially S13s are seen a lot. I see at least one a day, and probably all are non-enthusiasts. If someone nods at me and they don't look like a psycho i'll nod back, no harm done, but I have been driving a camry and never get any nods, except from people I know or drunk people.

Which reminds me of some guy who was driving around with a dummy in a jason mask looking out the passenger window. Freaked the heck out of me when I turned over, but the guy just smiled.

I wouldnt let it upset you or anything, cuz you never know who the driver is, I am not all for that pull over and lets talk stuff either, you never know who they are and what they are up to.

Even when I take pics of other people's cars in parking lots, I feel wierd. So i try to make sure nobody is around.

I don't think I would ever wait in a parking lot for an owner of a car to come out, that is just wrong.

Subie owners used to wave at me... and I'd wave back :p

The other night I was driving home and I spotted a 97, came along side it, and tried to wave through his tints....

I have owned 2 89 CRX si's. Everyone and their little brother tries to race me or rev's on me. (including other CRX's and Civics)

It's a different story in my MR2-T. Sometimes I miss the CRX, but it's things like fools reving on me when I am washing my car, or fixing it that is super Gay.

Only one have I ever waved at a 240sx hatch. Some guy about my age (18) and I asked him if he liked his car. Seemed to be pretty clueless about the car he had. I gave him a 30second speal while at the light about his car and if he was a car guy a 240sx was a good car to work on. Still looked at my confused. :( but i have seen a group of 3 white 240sx (hatch and 2 coupes) modded to any extent.

In japan, all the locals that drive 180's and silvias give the thumbs up, and a huge ass smile. I always give the thumbs up back, or just throw up the dueces. Japan Rocks!!!!!!:D

Im a hoosier. I've had my 240 for awhile now. No etensive list of mods. No plans to do a SR20 swap. None of that crap. I would wave at the other owners but they wont wave back at me. They are all newbies who bought the 240 just because it is the current trend.

I always wave. Not like "hey, look we have the same car! yeeeeeeah! let's pull over and talk about SR's and KA turbos!" but just quick wave and a smile will do. I'll wave at the 240z, 260, 280, z31 and z32 300zx owners too, they always wave back. I've only seen two 240SX owners that were pricks and had the attitude like "I thought I was the only guy in town with this car" and they get ****ed off and want to race. Nothing beats meeting a girl with a 240SX and having chat. I came out of Circuit City one time, a girl parked next to me and had the exact same color, body style and even the same alarm. I was in love. Apparently she was too, because he boyfriend was with her, but ya, I could tell she wanted me ;)

d00d! VW owners are cool! ... well, some of them. I met a MkI guy at the track last friday, he was super nice! I love MkI golfs... or should I say rabbits! Sexy. I love the single round headlights.

As for 240 owners... I wave/say hi to the ones who have properly modded cars. To date, I haven't seen one on the road. (honestly)
All the ones I see are rims and exhaust w/ no suspension, or body kit and exhaust, no wheels or suspension, or just ugly and riced to heck. Therefor, I don't wave/thumbsup.

If i see a modded 240 i'll try and wave or give "the nod" or thumbsup.

On the other hand loud, overdone, ugly civics and stuff i always stick my arm out the window as they go by and give the Thumbs Down sign. Its so funny!!!

I had a 240 owner follow me down the street once.... but its cool he ended up helping me do my sr swap and does all the body work on my car. I know most of the local Z club guys around here so I nod or wave or whatever. cept for phlip and Dirk there arent many modified 240s around. i meet the strangest people met a dude with a nice M3 this past Sun. who saved me from a crowd of ignorant redneck ricers that were pestering me with stupid questions. turns out we autocross together. go figure.

Maybe getting shot is a little extreme- but possible.
How about if they just keyed your car? You'd be deserving of it.

shot..i don't think so. If they key my car its all good i just claim it to insurance get the money and buy aftermarket parts, i could use a new hood. Maybe they will steal my rims too while their at it. All my stuff is covered by insurance anyway.

There are only 3 240 owners that I see regularly. One is a ricer who I could really care less about. The other one is some dude who works at a Glass Repair place. And then there's Transient, who happens to live about 5 minutes away. When I see him I usually try and run him off the road :D

But I do wave or nod to every 3000GT or Stealth I see.

I swear that's all you care about, so what they are not sticking out too far outside my fenders....o well, it was my choice to get them because i liked them. Yea they are 8" wide with +35 atleast they are better than stock. I'm also about to get longer studs and some spacers.

and anyway people will steal anything they can get their hands on..there are just that big of scumbags out there.

Ex. My friend got one of his stock rims stolen off his 91 accord.

He never sent the money, and stop replying to emails. So I paid $40 shipping to send him my tails. I have leftover CRX parts, but i just might trash them, so i dont get burned again.

LOL..I wave at every modified 240 I see! But that's cause I know just about everyone in my area!

A lot of the times a group of kids'll pull up to me at a stop light and always ask the same question "what color are you gonna paint your car!"

I make sure to always be freindly especially to the young ones. Just to try and set a good example for fellow enthusiasts.

All the non modified 240's in my area are being drivin by middle aged women:( I'm pretty sure that's the consumer that nissan markated to when they first brought the s14.
