in anticipation i wait for my new parts to come in so i can install them. to my delight they are delivered to my doorstep early this afternoon. i unpack them and enjoy their deliciousness.

well let's install them then! i remove my old taillights that have this black tar around the hole where the lights go but hey that's ok because now my s13 coupe will looks a lot better. i then proceed to put on my passengar side taillight.

wait? wtf?! it does NOT fit good at all. please refer to the pics. fyi the second pic is my driver side that is still stock, notice no gap. my tails came with this fat rubber to seal around the tails which is shown in the last pic. i removed it and the tails fit perfectly except i am afraid rain will come in because nothing is sealing between the taillight and then car's body. anyone else had this problem? how should i fix this?

That foam that came with the tail lights is crap.
What you need is butyl rubber. Its the same stuff that was on your old tail lights. Its kinda like tar. You can pick that stuff up at auto place like autozone or stop by a body shop.

so rip off the rubber and load up on the butyl rubber? sounds like a plan. oh and i expected more from dmax. i could have gotten ebay tails but instead i chose to go with dmax because supposedly they would have better fitment and quality control. you have let me down dmax.

^ They're not really Dmax tail lights. I used to have what I thought were "dmax" led tail lights, but when I got the box it said ultimate design led and they were made in taiwan or china or some shit. They are the same lights that you can buy on ebay. I learned my lesson the hard way and bought some oem kouki tail lights because the cheap ass ones were getting condensation and water in them.

you do know that dmax lights are made in Taiwan as well right?

Just cram them in and put one bolt on. It happened with my buddy's car. It just needed a massage.

butyl rubber(dum dum) is the answer. Don't use rubber seal that comes with the tail lights.

i had the same issue, they will fit but it may help if you get a friend to help push them in whilst you screw the nuts on (if you arnt strong enough, that is !!!)

they will fit but they take a fare bit of manhandling to get them on.

if thats the case, i wouldnt be surprised if your friend's mounting studs delaminated from the rear housing, happens to NSX customers all the time.. (and those are not cheap replica tail lights)

like others said, use the OE adhesive

junyan makes all these "dmax" lights.

same guys who make most altezza style lights.

they all fit pretty shitty, which is why you shouldn't overpay and buy them through dmax...

aquarium silicone on the taillight and butyl on the chassis should take care of water leakage.

I like these taillights! I didn't have any problems mounting them just with the exception that the weather stripping is tad too fat. But if you can have somebody push it in while you screw on the nuts, then there should be no problem. They should bolt right in.

Monkey Boy, can you do me a huge favor? Can you measure how thick that rubber seal is? I want to double check that from our first shipment of lights. If I have the smaller thinner rubber seals, I will send you a set.

Isn't it nice when somebody like DMAX has up front interaction with members of the community and customers?

:)

good work.

So about 9mm? ok, I will double check all the S13 lights I have here. I have about 30 sets. If none of those are good, I will send you over some of that thick OE Nissan foam tape.

thanks dmax also i expected at least a dmax sticker in the box but there is nothing showing that it came from dmax. it would help because i could have just gotten ebay's and get the same thing. throw in something to at least say dmax.

It didn't sound like demanding.. I like having a small card, sticker, paper or whatnot with the business info on it just as a reminder. I don't run any of those stickers on my car (a few on my welding mask!), but it's a nice reassurance you are buying from who you think you are. Cometic sends their stickers, ARP does the same.

Hard to tell the tone someone is TYPING with sometimes!

On topic, I've seen DMax do this a few times. Wish I had a S chassis to send my business your way!

that's exactly what i was trying to say. something to show that it is dmax. even a business card would have been fine. also i don't want a sticker/business card anymore i am saying when i first opened the box i thought there would be something like that. when i order shirts from dorkidori he at least puts in business cards.

well if it really is dmax there should be the junyan emblem on the back. as that was the company that made them.

Honestly you guys should have used window caulk. Zilvia is a great place though. Nice to see DMAX helping a customer out. It's why I come here, to do business!

Clear silicone window caulk people. Works better than great.

oh really cuz j u n y a n spells dmax. stupid me i dont' know how to spell. i know they don't make them but dropping in some kind of something to show it is from them would be good for company advertisement.

also for an update i got a pm from dmaxusa and they are trying to find a solution to the mounting problem. this is the service i was hoping to get from buying dmax, this is why i didn't buy ebay versions.

bernard and koji are way legit! so take it to pm's and lets us know when its fixed. until then id stop implying about any type of advertisement as your getting the help you need.
