if you look at the next picture, there is a hose that used to be attached to the old stock box that had the filter, im lost to as what this hose does, and what should i do with it? is it something to do with emissions, and do i need to block or make a filter for it?

and probably the greatest part it that it growles, once it gets to 4k rpm it really sounds mean. i have a vid of it, but no way of hosting it, anyone wanna do it for me? its not too big...

just out a breather on the AIV. it'll be fine.

your idle might suffer a bit.

where did you relocate your air temp sensor?

(assuming the air temp sensor mounts on the stock box, like 89-90s)

i noticed a slight power gain from 3.500 and up, and mines a 91 so there wasnt a air temp sensor. i can put up vids, but no way of hostin them.

and i love the growl sound...

how big is the file? You can send it to me and I can try and host it :p I've never really tried it before, but it should work.

EDIT:

you can reach me on aim fleaf624, or e-mail me [email protected] . if it's less than 1.5 mb, just e-mail it to me.

i have a similar k&n filtercharger. my filter inlet is twice the size. it makes a cool whoosh sound, i dont know about power gains never drove it without. k&n filtercharger is probably wayy more $$$ than that. the local tuner/honda shop should have that in stock so dont wait for shipping

aw man i just picked my adapter up this weekend for $12 (no filter, no bolts)

the holes dont line up too well so i can only use 2 bolts to hold it :P yeah just put a breather on that hose (~$8). i think what it does is when there is a vacuum condition in the headers, the hose there allows air to be drawn into the exhaust. weird, cuz i thought you WANT the vacuum there to help "pull" air out from the combustion chambers :D

also, the cone filter didnt do much for me in the sound dept (and it didnt do much for my friend's s13 coupe). maybe because of all those other vacuum hoses stuck into the intake  but then again, i have very bad compression loss in my engine haha; i'll take care of it soon

I cut mine out of my stock airbox. The left it dangling. Didnt look to clean though, so I suck it inside the filter at where the rubber on the filter meets the MAF. Just looks cleaner.

The AIV is Emmisions control. They want you to suck air that doesn't have unburnt fuel down the exhaust, rather than air with unburnt fuel from the combustion chamber.

It isn't a necessary system. Although, if it is supposed to be working, and its messed up somehow, it can cause a crappy idle.
