View Full Version : What SAVED BY THE BELL taught me!

Everytime I watch an episode of Saved by the Bell I see that E/I icon at the bottom of the screen. That, of course, indicates that it's an educational program. Yet...after all these years I'm still not sure what I was supposed to learn from this show. That is why I decided to make a list of everything I did learn and see if there is anything there to convince me that SBTB deserves to be an educational show.

What I learned from Saved by the Bell:

1. No one will find it disturbing that SOMEHOW I managed to get poster of my school crush.
2. My friends will kill my pet Lizard.
3. High School has a population of 20 students.
4. All my teachers are either deaf, blind, or an annoying fat guy!
5. My friends will be in all my classes.
6. I'll have enough time to participate in every school activity and sport.
7. The Principal will not only be a sub for my class, but will trust me to install a CD player in his expensive car and deliver his baby when I'm trapped in the elevator with his wife.
8. If I get in trouble enough times my mother will have her own parking space.
9. I can hire an actor to pretend to be my father.
10. I can throw birthday parties in the Prinicpal's office.
11. The entire school will go out of their way to teach me a lesson.
12. My enemy and I will become best friends.
13. Caffeine pills will turn me into a crazy person.
14. My 15 yr old girlfriend will dump me for a college student.
15. At 17 I can go on a vacation to Hawaii by myself and hook up with a young MILF.
16. Even though I'm a D-student I can still get a 1500 on my SATs and get accepted into Harvard.
17. When I get to college I will finally realized that I'm hispanic!

Feel free to add more!

At least it was a show about morals and not growing up too fast. Look at all the shows today, back then they didn't use sex and violence to appeal to kids. They taught you something without boring you, same thing boy meets world and all those shows did. May be stupid to you now, but not growing up

I totally agree. I have a conversation about this with people all the time. We had soooo many shows growing up that basically taught kids valuable lessons and morals.

Saved By the Bell
Fresh Prince
Full House
Family Matters
Boy Meets World
Step by Step

and on and on.

The TV for kids today is really pathetic.

I think there may be a disproportionate number of gays on teenage TV these days. It's like 1 out of every 3 people on tv is gay. Which is weird because it seems that only 10% of the population is gay.

Then again it's probably on par for the people making the shows, so it's not really that weird.

seriously, but it goes wiht the times, teen today are dealing with higher pregnancy risk and all that crap, then again it doesnt help that there are shows exposing young viewers to it...circle of crap

i honestly feel the same way.. stuff is slowly getting more acceptance now a days that its ok. Things are not shown as being taboo any more because media shows who is doing it *like celebs gettin knocked up by losers etc * and its ok for it to happen etc.

Do they still show SBTB on tv? what channel?

FRpilot

if saved by the bell still was airing today, they would probably keep up with pop culture and what's new such as gay and lesbian couples, goths, skinny jeans, etc.

i guess we have southpark for that, except for the fact that southpark isn't meant to be educational like saved by the bell
