My driver’s side window has been intermittently not working,I replaced the switch it still does the same thing,it is now not working at all and is stuck down, when I hit the up switch I can hear the window amplifier click!
Is the problem my motor or amplifier?

it's that little rectangular box thing.

mine does the same thing, i hit it around, and the window works again.

The little box is the window amplifier, mine is making a clicking sound when I try to put the window up, not sure if it is supposed to or not!

It's the amplifier.

I've got an extra one sitting around here somewhere.

Not always true.

My P/W Amp would make the clicking sound and it was actually my motor.

S13 and S14s use the same P/W amp.
Try to swap it out with a friends to see if its the amp or motor.

silly question.. but this thread seems like it will help a bunch of ppl. will the window amp from the other door (that's working) fit on the other door that's not. so there is no left or right designated side amp.?

couldn't find an answer, going outside to take my left amp out and test on the right door.

No, bacause the design for the passenger side window is completely different. Nissan in their infinite knowledge, decided it would be funny to have the amp seperate from the switch for the driver side. The amp for the passenger side is built into the master control switch on the driver side window switch. They fucked around with this shit until they finally got rid of the amp all together for the Koukis.

From what I've read when I was having this issue, 1995 window switch will only work for 95s and 96s only for 96s. 97-98 are interchangeable with each other since they're the same design. Most of the time, the solders on the amp would go bad so its just a matter of resoldering them back. Mine didnt have any show of bad solder so I just bought a new amp from Courtesy Nissan. I think it was about $35 brand new.

read a post on nico about soldering the amp.. said it's a white box...
now that you said the 95 and 96 are different from each other, then the 97/98 are the same..

the box i have that i see looks like this...

My 95 s14 had a window amp and my 96 doesn't have one its the switch and amp togeter.

so that pic that i posted right there in my 96 of the switch, has the amp built into it then. cuz i saw somewhere that there is a silver box with a white amp by it in the top left corner.. and i don't have anything. so if i just buy a working power window switch from a 96 i should be good i'm thinking.?

it was making a clicking noise when i pushed the switch up and down yesterday. now it doesn't do anything at all.

I eliminated Nissan's silly way of a power window wiring schematic and did my own custom wiring using bosch relays and oem switches.

must be the window motor then?

I'd try that box first...cheaper than getting another motor.
