View Full Version : I dislike lazy people.

Most especially newbs and self-centered users.
I've found that most users who post on Zilvia are newbies asking the same questions that'd been asked earlier in the week, month and year, although sometimes with a slight spin on them.
They're the same questions that users that have DONE the footwork and researched, and posted about have had to answer time & time again. How unfair is it to them to have to do all the work for someone who's just getting into the 240 community, or someone who's just lazy enough to only post a question, instead of researching.
It all comes to a head and really ticks me off, when a newb asks an age-old question, is told to search by an experienced user, and then the experienced user is called ignorant for not answering the newb! WTF!?
PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR NOT WANTING TO ANSWER LAZY PPL'S QUESTIONS!
And to you lazy ppl who expect answers to common questions from experienced users, **** YOU, get off your ass and do some ****ing homework.
[/rant]
One thing I'm a big fan of, however, is when a user who has done something, be it researching, installing, repairing, etc. decides to document it and post it for the good of the rest of us.
Even if it's something that's been covered, like changing a clutch, or installing a CAI. You can never have too much information, and it's always good to see things from someone else's perspective.
Yours in the preservation of a good 240sx community,
-Kevin

lets not forget the BRINGING OF OLD THREADS UP!!!

i agree..
but maybe its their first time using an internet :p
i found that i can find any answers i needed about 240sx in this forum (search button)
freshalloy has a great archive too
and google helps a lot!
thats why i hardly asked any technical question in this forum
i can find most of them by searching
and if im stuck.. i will PM or call someone who knows

I'm thinking about instituting a '240sx IQ test', wherein a potential Zilvia user would have to answer about 10 common 240sx questions. IE:
Do S14 front seats fit in the S13 chassis with no modification?
1.) No
2.) Maybe
3.) Yes
4.) What is an S14/S13?

OK......i read this thread, then i happened to come across a thread called sunroof mayhem, or something like that. after reading this and being somewhat disgusted, i had an idea that may work. i may be considered a newbie to this site, even though i am not. (i am a newbie as far as posting is concerned)
you will not see me post any questions that we have already covered. i might be wrong but i THINK i have a little more common sense that that. unfortunately.....there are a lot MORE people in this world that have NO common sense than people that do.
so here is my suggestion: (allthough nobody will want to do it).
of all the moderators on this site, appoint one moderator to handle any stupid newbie question, by posting a link to whatever topic has previously been posted. this will have to be a moderator with a little more tolerance than most, but the outcome will probably be alot less stressfull to all the other moderators on the board.
P.S.
no, i wouldnt want to do that either.:D

Search is nice, but when you posted about it in that sunroof thread you made it out to be the end of the thread and anymore input wasn't needed. With so little info about the subject why not let it be answered? We are here to talk about 240sx's so let people talk about em' Now that thread has actual info and links to alot more of it, all that can be found directly on this site.
I think your more mad at the 'some people are just ignorant' comment, which I would assume got under your skin.

Sorry if it seemed I made it the end of the thread. It wasn't intended that way. I just wanted to open that person's eyes to other avenues of gaining information. If I truly wanted that to be the end of the thread, I would've just locked it. I left it open for others to throw their .02c in.
The ignorant comment just got to me because it was ignorant of the person saying it to assume I was ignorant. :D

Hmmn, I recall Jeff240sx saying mods can't ban and he's never seen a documented case of someone actually getting banned.
Getting banned is never even mentioned on Zilvia.........
I'm really scared now! hehe
So the mods don't see banning as a tool or option?
More respect now that I see what self-control you guys have.http://www3.sympatico.ca/travischan/PUB/biggthumpup.gif
{note to self- kiss more ass} http://www3.sympatico.ca/travischan/PUB/angel.gif
Yea. Mod's didn't have the option to ban a few months ago.. and nobody got banned. A few months ago, Zilvia didn't have morons in such quantities and so many damn old, dead-ass threads being drug up by newbs.
The post Dousan was talking about was http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25982&highlight=banned
and the guy that caught the last one publicly was SR20debt.

this is just my $.02, but i really think you should ban people more often. Well atleast threaten them. I'm mainly saying this for the newbies because the recent reviving of old threads and the asking of the same old questions that have already been answered COUNTLESS times has really gotten ridiculous and quite annoying.
sorry, just had to rant.
anyway, you mods are doing a great job, keep up the good work.

I feel where you're coming from, but it's hard to threaten someone with being banned. We're not looking at banning as a temporary solution. If you get banned, that's it.... and it's hard to threaten a newb with that when they're not really familiar with what 's going on.
Now if we were having a problem with a user who'd been around for awhile, and just decided to break all the rules and behave in an immature fashion, then we'd consider banning that user more readily.

yeah i remember that post. Bbandits emblem made me laugh soo ****ing hard. hahaha, its still funny.
i think some of the problem is people who just sign up to ask one thing, so they dont care if its been asked before. like theyll just ask, get na answer, and not come back. i honestly dont see this ever dissapearing completely. there will always be n00bs, i just hope it dies down sometime soon (not likely).

make a new forum on the zilvia website, just for the newbies. On the Zilvia front page when you click on "forums" they'll go to another forum. Moderators can keep an eye on them, see what and how they post, then promote them to this one if they don't ask about s15 conversions on a car they don't have yet, for their first post, or KA vs SR topics. :D :D no, seriously, i have no problem with newbies. i'm patient. but that would be one way to filter the bad newbies if you really care.

LMAO, I remember that thread too, that was one of the funniest pictures I saw on here in a long time, but that kid was asking for it... He was a noob and decided that he would take on everyone and caught the business for it. I think there should be more of those handed out personally.
