I need some help I have an S13B with the stock KA24DE. Well one of my injectors took a crap on me and I needed to get the car back up ASAP so I just put on a set of 370cc sr injectors that I was saving for the project motor but you know work calls! Anyways I did that and then the car was really hard to start like I had to crank it for a good like 30 second and then it would eventually start. And on top of that my car was running really rich (because of the larger injectors) and throwing out white smoke. So I put on a SAFC II to fix the problem. Well here is my problem:

-the car is still hard to start (when I start if I tap the accelerator a little the car will start easier)
-at around 1500 or 2000 rpm on deceleration my engine is making a popping noise (I think my car is still running rich)
-my exhaust puts out white smoke upon acceration out of 1st gear or if I rev in nuetral.

I also have a question about my timing. Someone told me to retard my timing a lil bit because of the larger injectors. I don't know if this is true.

my setting for the safc II is:

-27 across the whole hi and lo maps
Points are 1000,2000,3000,4000,4500,5000,6000,7000

My decel setting is
THR: ****
NE1: 0.00%
NE2: 0.00%

Sensor Type:
Hot Wire 5in and 5out

The motor is stock except for the fuel injectors (370cc SR) and the intake.

Any help would be appreciated.

too much fuel. Just sell the 370's and get stock injectors.

white smoke isnt that water within the cylinders?? or it could be just condensation with in the pipes?? popping hm..gonna have to be more specific..if you are looking for that answer to that problem

Im not sure about every case so correct me if im wrong, but Im pretty sure white smoke is a blown headgasket. Most likely you def have a blown headgasket.

If my headgasket was blown, wouldn't it be smoking all the time? The popping happens when I let go of the throttle as in when I am in first gear and then I let go of the throttle and around 2000 rpms I hear a popping noise. I usually hear it only around first through 3rd gear. Well I will check the headgasket and everything. Anyone have any idea why my car is starting the way it is?

popping lol is it coming from the rear of your car?? backpressure problem, common error is known to be a exhaust leak..from what i heard open radiator look at the neck does the fluid look like a choco color??

popping noise, I mean it sounds like a small backfire!

No it wouldnt be smoking all the time esp if the headgasket isnt fully blown. Mine was not fully blown but it would smoke only 5% of the time but it would be a lot of white smoke when it did. When I replaced it I looked for any damage to the gasket and it was very minimal. I replaced it and it was fine. As for the popping it could be exhaust leak if its a small popping. Check em and see if theres any difference when you replace em.

Smell the exhaust. if its sweet smelling then your burning coolant, its it smells like gas, then you have a leaky injector or the 370s are wayy overflowing. too much fuel will make you backfire as explained.

I'm 99% sure this is the problem, but ignore me again if you wish.

I'm pretty sure none of the the injectors are leaking. I'm pretty sure my car is backfiring due to too much fuel. I will be replacing my headgasket and headstuds while I'm at it, I got a deal on a cometic headgasket and arp headstuds! Thanks everyone for the help!
