Im new to the 240 scene so i dont really know what to do right now.
This morning i went to start my car but it wouldnt start so the first thing i check was the battery but that was fine.It starts up but then dies right away and i sometimes have to give it a couple cranks for it to start then die.I dont know what the problem is if someone can give me some advice that would be great and like i said im new to this so i dont really know what to do.

Do yourself a favor and use the search function and type in 'alternator' and pick up an FSM.

That doesn't sound like an alternator problem at all.
If his alternator was fucked up, it would've probably fucked up his battery too.

i had the same problem.. some people said it was my fuel pump or sumthing electrical.. but my solution was changing my MAF.. that worked.

check to see if the Fp is priming either use the key trick
or use consult cable and turn it on via software
check to see if your fuel filter is cloged.

maybe fuel pump? or as the guy said above, check to see the condition of your fuel filter. these cars are old, so, it wouldnt suprise me if its half clogged to the least.

Sounds like the maf to me too. Check and see if you got spark and fuel first.

forgot about that. ur maf could also be dirty and might needa be cleaned. my buddies sounded like it wanted to shut off everytime he turned it on and sounded like it had a timing issue but cleaned his maf, and problem was solved. so might wana check into that.

It has been a while since I have touched a car, but if I am not mistaken you can unplug the MAF and see if it starts then. I swear the ECU has a Limp mode to allow it to run if the MAF is unplugged. That way you would be able to rule out the MAF as the problem.
