So im going to be redoing the majority of the seals on the SR i have before i put it in. Ive been looking around for gaskets for the cooling system on it and i have not found ANY at all..

I was looking at the Full gasket set they make for the SR but i cant spot any that would be for where the thermostat housing connects to the block or where the thermostat housing tube (the 3 bolt part the lower radiator hose attaches to) goes. So i assume that i use Silcone liquid gasket for ALL of the cooling system parts? If you know they make gaskets for some of the things please direct me towards them because IMO Gaskets>RTV silicone.

you will have to use RTV for most, if not all connections in the cooling system.

Personally I hate RTV, yes all liquid based gasket makers are pretty much the same, but most RTV's require a 24 hour set up. I always use Right Stuff, comes in a white can with black label on it, and it will form a water tight seal in one minute. Last time I bought it I paid like $7, and you can make all the gaskets needed from one can. Just my preference.

If you can get your hands on an FSM for the Silvia, you'll see that the SR20 uses liquid gasket in more than a few places. I like to use Nissan's gray liquid gasket, but the stuff you get at AutoZone, pep-boys, etc... is just as good.

Audi/VW OEM silicone. Yeah, its a little pricey, but its THE BEST silicone I've ever used...and I've worked in garages and tried every one known to man.

You do know Permatex ultra grey is the same exact part number as hondabond? And hondabond has been known to be the best rtv out there, thus Permatex ultra grey is what you should buy.

Damn all this stuff sounds amazing, Is there anything in particular that works better for all the coolant passages? I figured id use Permatex ULTRA BLACK for the Oil pan gasket and any oil seals but what would be best for all the coolant passages?

Yeah Permatex Ultra Grey is what Ray @ West Co Nissan gives out, and I used it on my last couple motors. Great stuff, but not designed for oil.

The black RTV is usually petroleum safe, check the labels and descriptions.

well im going to use ultra black for all the oil stuff, im just wondering what should i use for all the coolant stuff like the water pump and thermostat housing... etc.. Permatex makes some waterpump and thermostat housing sealer i might just use that haha. Unless someone recommends something else like that Audi/VW stuff.. Is that stuff good for coolant? and oil? or what is its main uses?

you can use the Audi/VW stuff anywhere really, stops oil, water, etc. Plus its high temp, I really don't use anything else on my sr when I'm replacing a gasket that was originally silicone.

Right Stuff is good for oil, water, trans fluid, and forms a water proof seal in less than a minute or less.

I don't know if Hondabond and Permatex Ultra Grey are the same. I remember someone taking a picture of both, and they have different colors and consistencies.
I'm sure if you google it, you might be able to find it.
