Ok so i picked up a 1991 Nissan 240sx Coupe about a week ago. I drove it back to my house (trip was 87miles) it drove fine and everything, since then i started the car up every so often and it was fine. Started up perfect but now it wont start. I turn the key once, it clicks and then nothing wont start. I thought it was the battery so i changed the battery with the one in my Focus and still nothing. All the dash lights still work, headlights work, blinkers work but the motor wont start. it doesnt even try to. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Well I have a similar problem with my s14 95'... Don't want to hijack your thread but maybe we have the same problem! It will only start when it is cold out side, other wise you can sit there for 5 minutes some times trying to start it. Same problem you got where everything else works so the battery is good, but it wont even try to crank when you turn the key!!?? I even installed a new starter, no luck...

sounds like you popped the main power fuse in the box next to the battery

check your ground connections as well.

does it click once only? or does it keep clicking until you turn the key back off

Starter solenoid. Tap it with a hammer, then try starting again.

oh yeah starter could be going. totally missed that.
if it turns over when you hit it with the hammer. def starter.

same happened to me. check the fuses on the passenger side fuse box in engine bay. it should be one of the the medium size ones towards the middle. i cant remember the name of it off the top of my head.

Check the blue starter relay behind the battery

i had the same problem.. i found out that my negative battery cable was bad.. then it worked but then my starter died the same day.. so check the main stuff.. fuel pump, starter, battery, or a loose ground..
