I was at the mall a few days after I got the car and I walked out and there was this ricer kid with an orange civic parked next to me. When I got to my car he asked what kind of conversion I did. I said, "conversion?" He then said...."that's a VTEC Accord 2-door isn't it?" I can't remember what I said in return though. I was pretty shocked.

hah... I know a guy whose red S14 is badged as a Lexus SC300 :D, and he has confused a lot of people (although I don't know how that's possible :confused:)

I get the lexus SC thing all the time... Then there was the time where the rice-bastard at the only auto zone that sells K&N oil filters was telling people that I had the "J-spec motor without the turbo..." Anyone that knows me knows that I don't use the word "motor" when referring to an internal combustion ENGINE and that I make no bones that I have a BONE STOCK KA BEEOTCH.

Yes when i first got my car all the kids in my grade kept telling me it was fwd. I was like are you stupid its my car i think i know. So one day i had to burn out so they could see my back tires spin.

My 240 has been called a saturn before that one really hurt.
Probe all the time too, especially at night.

Ok i got a 90 hatch 240. Looks alot like a probe, but check this out my boy has a fast Rx7 1st gen and its black to if you look at the fron of these cars the have the same number of lights like front bumber light ans then side bumber light and pop up head lights the just his car si smaller its like a baby 240. Everyone seems to think i got a v6 its killin me. The funniest thing was my boy killed this gt mustang right and they guy was like what is that 6 cyl and my boy was like i dant have cylinders and the guy was like how many liters and my boy was 1.3 that guy was confused for the rest of the night.

a kid called my s13 fastback a corvette, and a guy stopped me in walmart and asked me what my car was. I have a nismo emblem on the back of my car, and he said "what brand is that, nismo? must be a new car, I've never heard of it..." I spent like 10 minutes explaining it all to him, that nismo was to nissan what mopar was to dodge, that the car wasn't new (it has rust spots!) and that its a 240sx.

I have actually mistaken an mx-6 for an s14 when I first got my 240. that was from far away though.

Ive also gotten the ford probe thing :mad: I'm actually quite sick of that shit!!
Also, some people thought it was V6 and when I told this one guy it wasnt, he was like oh, I didnt know there was 2 different engines :confused:

I didn't hear it personally, but a guy in a Chevy Silverado allegedly said I had a nice Probe at last Saturday's autocross.

Not quite sure what to make of that.

Nobody's mistaken my car for anything else... 1/2 the time they don't know wtf it is. Some dumbass security guard who wrote me a citation for bad parking (which was BS anyway) wrote it down as being a 2000 Nissan 240sx. :confused:

Well since i did remove the 240sx and SE badge off of my baby i guess i can see why it confuses alot of people! Come on guys are 240s arent exactly a dime a dozen!

I get the occasional stare from the ricers and the, "Yo is that a skyline?"

The best was when i got a ticket the cop, i guess didnt want to admit that he didnt know what kind of car i had, just wrote down "Nissan!"

Oh btw my car is stock... at least on the outside! ;)

i've got a S14 kouki, and i've gotten the skyline thing a few times. Most of the time, people dont know what my car is because i've got silvia badges on the front and back (to me it looks more exotic :p ). When i tell people its a nissan 240sx, they just give me that wtf look and say "oh" and then walk away confused.

And i too have gotten the "you got the jdm conversion! thats tyte yo!" crap. They look confused as hell when i say no, my headlights are stock and i have a KA engine.

The worst thing off all though was when this guy told me i should swap in a B16 or B18 (some B*teen* honda engine, i cant remember exactly). He said that would make my car hella fast :rolleyes:

ready for this? I took my car to the mechanic once, to see what was up with my A/C not working... when i called them to see what they found i said "it's a white 96 nissan 240sx" and the guy was like, "we don't have one of those... " I said, yes you DO!" and he said "OH, You mean the NEON?" and i was like "WTH? NO!" he finally accepted that it wasn't a neon....
but when i went to pic it up he said "your front brakes need to be replaced, that's very important on FWD vehicles" I said "IT'S RWD!!!!!" and he was like "Dodge Neon? NO, that's FWD!" I said "gimme my car back!" he said "what about the brakes?"... to which i retorted "I'll do them myself, gimme my car back!" and I never went there again...

When I took my car in to do emmisions, they put the front wheels on the rollers and the kid starts it up. I didn't want him to drive into the fan infront of the car, so I went out there and gave him **** for a whole 5 minutes. Jackass should not be working at colorado clean air if he doesn't know drivetrain layouts. After this, it took him about 10 seconds to test my car, because he felt like an ass. (rightfully so) I notice nobody knows a damned thing about these cars. Salesmen used to tell me "it'll be good in the snow, because its FWD", and my alignment guy asked me if I had independent rear suspension, and then if I was SURE...

Oh yea, everyone tells me to do the silvia front end swap... its a '96 s14... the silvia front end looks exactly the same (sans bumper and grill)... I don't get it. If you don't know something... ASK, or just DONT TALK to me!

On a good note, I love these cars. Everyone thinks they are more exotic than they are.

Haha, too bad I could care less about informing them. If you want to know, there are ways to find out... thats my policy at least. Don't mistake this for arrogance, I just don't like to put up with the millions of questions these types of people ask after I tell them they are wrong.

not at all an insult but I love the people who clearly have played too much Gran Turismo and too much SCC and refer to my car as a Silvia, who in actuality do not know much at all about Nissans.

Its still a stock KA and all USDM exterior, although I have recently removed all the badging.

there is a car toyota made that the front looks alot like our car.

I dont know what it is but I always look to see if its a 240 commin.

Removeing the badging makes me look twice to make suer its a 240.. I saw this 240 at the mall the other day I had to doubble take on. (looks nice)....

(But I diddent want to stare. he saw my 240 and its almost stock)

What toyota a older celica or mr2?? I don't think they look like a 240 at all.

My car (camry) was mistaken for a 97-98 S14 :D, well I guess it wasn't mistaken but said as a joke, but the headlight structure is similar, its just that the S14 is a little smaller and bends in a little more.

As far as I can recall, my car has been mistaken for a Z and an SC300 (and it's a frikkin' '92 hatch!). I was rather happy wieth the second one. I used to mistake FCs for 240sx's from the front. Gotten beyond that though :P

And yes, most folks who ride in my car think it's a V6, but not enough know enough about cars for them to even think about fwd vs rwd.

I get Probe in the MR-2 all the time too. :/ You'd think they'd notice the Toyota badges or the fact that THE ENGINE ISN'T EVEN IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR. Anyway.. I guess an MR-2 might look a bit like a 240sx fastback from the front but an older Celica probably looks a little more like them (not that either have a striking resemblence to them).

i wonder who has it worst, the s13 or s14 guys. I kinda think the s14 because I'd hate to be asked all that skyline and silvia conversion stuff from the local riceboy. Us s13s just get the probe(hatch) and prelude, integra(coupes). THEN AGAIN, sometimes my car does looks like an FD RX7 :p
