Alright, well as strange a topic as this may be for this forum I figured some of you guys and gals are home owners/renters which possibly include large dogs and/or cats. So lately I've been considering buying a new vacuum because my little Hoover just can't keep up with all the dog hair at my place.

I would really like to have a Dyson, but at over $400 a pop, it's not happening any time soon. So please don't just post "Dyson /thread" as my limit is around $150.

Needs insane suction power like that of a 15 year old fat chick working on a Big Gulp. Bagged or Bagless, either is fine as long as it's easy to keep clean. Filter cannot get easily clogged either seeing as I am dealing with lots of hair (Summer time equals major shedding).

Any help is appreciated. I'll be looking at consumer reports and doing my own research as well.

New vacuums look like spaceships. I say go bagless.

I'm pretty sure Hoover makes a knockoff Dyson. Check on Amazon. The real Dysons go on sale from time to time, and their purple model is supposed to be really good for pets. You should probably just save and get a Dyson refurb.

Busted, dude good looking out on the craigslist ads. Didn't think they would sell that low used. I'll be searching for a few more hopefully scoring the purple pet model one.

Oh it's not a baller vacuum thread lol. Just need something for all the pet hair on my carpet. Getting tired of it. Though I will be making a thread shortly on what's the best rice cooker :keke:

That's actually one of the two I'm considering as of late. The other one is the Eureka SmartVac 4750 (something along those lines).

Currently though, I'm seeing if I can score a used Dyson off craigslist.

You could always hit up hotels and see if they're selling their older models, Kirby/Dyson.

hotels use oreks and eureka "sanitaire". I would recomend the sanitaire series to anyone. We've got the hepa filtered bagless model that keeps up with my german shepard and my black lab. The only thing it's needed since we've owned it, is a ball bearing on the beater bar died and the local vacuum store had one in stock for $1.89.

Model SC5845 (http://www.sanitairevac.com/commercial/products/sealed_hepa_uprights/SC5845.jsp)

Dysons don't do any better than the above. I tend to think of them as hyped stock vacuums.

Nah. Swiffer sucks. It just spreads that shit.

Mop and bucket.

Then again, its just fur, so i guess swiffer works.

to be honest. all vacuum's for around that price are going to be decent until they get to be about six months old. Your best bet is finding a used Dyson. obviously thats not an option (or maybe it is.) look for something that says its a 'Pet Hair Picker-upper dealie'.

Here are a couple i've found. The brands are usually pretty good.
Eureka Capture Upright Vacuum with Pet Hair Brush : Target (http://www.target.com/Eureka-Capture-Upright-Vacuum-Brush/dp/B00192GCO6/qid=1247681980/ref=br_1_5/192-0160069-9339030?ie=UTF8&node=286216011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1)
Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Pet Vac - 37602 : Target (http://www.target.com/Bissell-Lift-Off-Revolution-Pet-Vac/dp/B000FFWGN4/qid=1247681980/ref=br_1_2/192-0160069-9339030?ie=UTF8&node=286216011&frombrowse=1&rh=&page=1)

Honestly though, no matter WHAT brand of vacuum i've owned it's always had its little quirks. Even the Dyson I have right now has to be fixed. hair taken from the little roller, etc.. so yeah.... just my two cents...

Not sure if you noticed but that is the thread post that has recommended a Bissel. When I took mine to the place I am staying at now, my roommate jokingly complained I took the "good" vacuum.

He uses it to vacuum up hair after he cuts. Not sure if you ever seen black people hair when it has been cut, but some vacuums don't like to pick it up due to the clump tendency. Mine has no issues. And it is over 4 years old.

I noticed it.

From Bissel I've chosen this model:

Bissell Pet Cyclonic Upright Vacuum

Walmart.com: Bissell Pet Cyclonic Upright Vacuum: Appliances (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10603462)

From Eureka I've chosen this model:

Eureka 4870MZXBoss® SmartVacUpright Vacuum

Costco - Eureka 4870MZX Boss® SmartVac Upright Vacuum (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11297982)

Plus I'm also on the search for a used Dyson DC17 Animal.

^The Bissel has a better rating. I say go with that one.

Just an update, I ended up with a gangstah Dyson DC17 Animal with all accessories for $195 :D. It was a display model and couldn't be sold as new. Even came with the 5 year warranty. I <3 Craigslist.
