Option 2.)

I'm learning towards the second. I have a 2 week train pass so i can use w/e. I'm also seeing J's racing in Osaka and HKS in Hakone as well as Ebisu Circuit in Nihonmatsu and Nikko.

If you don't get any seat time, it's not that fun to be loitering on track imo.
to me, that would be 'look, but don't drive'.

you might also want to plan your itinerary around other activities as well.
find out other stuff you might want to do, in the city you plan to visit.
could be anything from some good local place to eat, to some historic monument.

an actual track day might keep you busy from 9-5.
visiting a shop probably won't take an hour or so, i'd imagine.

you might also want to look into if there's anyway you can rent a car to take on Tsukuba.
Even driving around in an old Miata would be fun on a more technical track like that.

I'm close to tokyo! If you pay gas I could take you to Diako, Hakone or our new spot in Kawasaki! You will have to pay tolls also and a healthy supply of red bull!

Aight i'd like to give a huge shoutout and thanks to A31cefiro (randy). He picked me up @ Sagamino station last night and we hooked up with his buddies and went up to Hakone and drifted the night away. Really really appreciate the entire experience. And jesus christ 1 RB25 in a tunnel sounds amazing, but 2? uh oh :D

Thanks again and it was an amazing experience, i can't wait to see what becomes of your car in the states! And you would've had him, drifting is your forte, but upshifting :D

I'm planning on going to japan this summer also with my buddy. Any of you guys in Japan know how we could get a couple cars to drive while we're there? How hard is it to just get an old s13 or 180, maybe we could rent or buy/sell while we're there? I think it would be cool to drive at tracks there like ebisu and do some street driving. I understand it would cost me some money but i'm ok with that, just seeing if its possible.

Its not possible unless you are majorly sponsored like Vaughn Gitten. I have never hear of a company that rents drift cars. And S-13's both the 180 and silvia are starting to go up in price over here. They are starting to get pretty rare. No one in there right mind would rent out there car over here for someon to take to the track or for hitting the touge lol... I cant because im in military so its alot cheaper for us to register a car than the locals or any civialian foreigner that comes to Japan.
