RJF - Where would you like to live the rest of your life besides here in the U.S. ? (j/w)

I want to live in the USA - The country that founded on the principle of small government, where the government works for us, not the other way around and where success is not penalized through higher taxes and Obama's socialist idealogy by "spreading the wealth around"

America's harbinger of death was your boy, RJF. Maybe you should crack some jokes on your own party.

You have definitely had too much Kool-Aid. Bush managed to get us out of the Post-9/11 recession in about 18 months, how long do you think this recovery will take?

Look at the damage that Obama has done in six months. He now runs the auto industry, wants to raise taxes on everyone through his asinine Cap-&-Tax legislation and wants to socialize the healthcare industry by taking that over and killing all the private insurance companies.

Unemployment is about to hit double-digits.

http://zilvia-images.s3.amazonaws.com/unemployment.png

He's managed to quadruple the deficit in six months. And the spending is out of control with healthcare and talk of another stimulus. The deficit is what is going to really kill the economy. How do you think that's going to be paid for? Taxes on everyone and he'll sell it by saying "We all need to sacrifice for the good of the country"

because it's roman catholic tradition for meeting the pope.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Pontifical Audiences (http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/02069a.htm)

The rector procures from the master of the chamber the necessary card of admission. Amongst the instructions printed on this card are those regulating the dress to be worn on such occasion: for priests the cassock with a large black mantle (ferraiolone), such as Roman secular priests wear; for lay men, evening dress with white cravat; for ladies, a black dress with black lace veil on the head.

Printing more money and spending on huge government programs is not the right way to get us out of this mess. Read up on the USSR when they started printing rupples to the point when they became so worthless because of inflation they pretty much traded in vodka and jeans afterwards. History repeats itself and socialism fails because eventually you run out of other people's money. Edit, I also agree Bush was legally retarded but doing the same thing again is not right.

Obama needs to man-up, grow some balls and stop blaming Bush. He's been part of the government since 2004 and part of the problem. He wanted this job and knew what he was getting into.

aznpoopy

clinton started it. bush continued and maintained it.

do you really think people could give joe shmoe the migratory farmhand, who makes 20k a year, a loan for 300k for a house, with no legal authority noticing? there are laws that prevent this sort of thing... fair lending / anti predatory lending. so how could this fucked up lending happen en masse for almost a decade?

the bush administration blocked any and all attempts by states to stop predatory lending practices through promulgation of archaic rules in the office of comptroller of currency, pre-empting the ability of states to block predatory lending practices.

this battle was ongoing in the years before the crash, as the OCC's preemption was confirmed in the 2007 SCOTUS case watters v. wachovia...

this case was subseqeuntly overturned by the more recent 2009 SCOTUS case cuomo v. clearing house association, re-establishing state ability to enforce, individually, state fair-lending practice law.

and yes, obama is a fucking dumbass. two party system lends itself to the moronic idea that there are only two solutions for any given problem. if not bush, then obama. right? wrong. too bad it's entirely possible, if not probable, that the ranks of both parties are lined with idiots. blind leading the blind.

incorrect. bush administration pushed for OCC pre-emption.

that's why it's common referred to as, um, bush-era OCC pre-emption.

it's something started under the dems and continued under the pubs. both parties are at fault here.

It's not just subprime, it's prime loans as well. The whole housing market was a bubble just waiting to pop. It's just that Sub-prime had their rate reset first so you saw it implode first. Now you're starting to see defaults with prime loans as well.

The idea that those prices were sustainable if only you regulated poor people from getting subprime is laughable.

I usually stay out of political threads for obvious reasons but I think ppl should get their facts straight. This housing melt-down was started way before the Bush era (I am in no way saying that everything Bush did during his terms was good/right, everyone has their faults). But to further defend what RJF is stating here:

YouTube - Timeline shows Bush, McCain warning Dems of financial and housing crisis; meltdown (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMnSp4qEXNM&NR=1)

For the record, I don't consider myself a hardcore democrat or republican but when ppl are buying $500k homes and making $50k/yr something doesn't add up. Also, another fact (not opinion). Obama is from what state/county. Cook County, Illinois. To date this has one of the highest foreclosure and unemployment rates in the country. Way to take care of your own. Also, another FACT. When someone runs for president and already have an elected position (governor, sentator) they are supposed to withdraw from taking pay (since their time is being spent primarily on the election and not on the official duties). Let me think, only person who didn't want to double-dip was Palin. Everyone else "where's my $"! Again, these are facts, so with that take this info as you will. /Rant.

when ppl are buying $500k homes and making $50k/yr something doesn't add up.

How do you figure? In California the median price of homes was 500k which was 15 times the median income per capital of the state.

Like I said, the mortgage melt down had DICK to do with sub-primes, but the entire industry was geared up with cheap easy credit courtesy of the central bank.

Oh and

President Calls for Expanding Opportunities to Home Ownership (http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020617-2.html)

So much for Bush Administration warnings...

The housing bubble was Bush's easy way out of recession and he took it. Actions speak louder than words. That's the FACT.

Why do Republicans feel the need to defend Bush? He was a terrible president, and I say this when I supported his 2000 campaign. But I'm not going to defend him just because he says he's a conservative (he's not).
