Inexpensive Oil Cooler Option?

I apologize if this has already been explored, I did a search and didn't come up w/ anything definitive. I'm slowly researching 240 stuff as I'm new to the Nissan scene. (former 3rd gen rx7 owner, current Honda owner :rolleyes: ). Have any of you guys adapted an oil cooler from, say, a second gen rx7 to your cars? Even the base model N/A's have pretty damn big oil coolers from the factory. It seems like it might be an inexpensive option for those wanting to turbo their 240's (KA-T or SR20). A friend and I run a beater 2nd gen for kicks and are constantly coming across free donor rx7's and parts. I'm considering trying to adapt the 2nd gen oil cooler if I go the S13/SR20 route. Just wanted to see if it's been done and any opinions.

yeah you could do it
you'd need to fab up lines and fittings and all but it can be done

also consider z32tt oil coolers. good size as well! :)
i got a z32tt one -not in stalled but my friend gave it to me. one day i'll hook it up. but no reason for it right now.

never heard of doing that before. seems like a good idea.

i was under the impression the KA-t didnt need oil cooling...

i guess it couldnt hurt though... dont want that oil coking up!

i dont have KA-T but i have an oil cooler... I took one from an old Mitsubishi Starion and then I used an oil filter sandwich adapter from Perma-Cool and some stainless steel lines (****ing expensive) to connect the stuff to my motor.:D

or, you could swap your 5MT radiator out for a AT radiator, and you'll have lines open that were originally used to cool the tranny fluid now empty... hook up an oil filter sandwich adaptor to this and voila, oil cooler that's cooled by your radiator! (That way you won't over-cool the oil, either!)
I'm running an auto radiator for the time being, but don't have a sandwich adaptor or lines. I can't be bothered (and frankly just don't need it) for the time being, either.

Using an auto radiator would cool the oil to 180 degrees, but no where past that. I suppose this would work, but the external oil cooler would definetely be a better route to go I think. I had thought about the AT radiator as well cuz I have one in my 5-spd.
