How to clean Ichiba hubs??

Hey, so my ichiba front hubs have been sitting in there styrofoam casings in the box for awhile now, and the inside sleeves on one of them came off. As a result, there's styrofoam pieces EVERYwhere inside, and all over the ball bearings. I tried cleaning most of them out with paper towels n tweezers, but some of them went inbetween the bearings and i cannot get them out. How would you suggest cleaning them? Do i have to take out each bearing? the lubricant is super thick, and i'm not sure what to do. I'm going to get my oem bearings pressed in, so will this even matter? I tried searching on here and google, so please discuss :-)

air compressed can? try blowing that shit out.

Try a compressor and shoot some air into it. If not then just take the bearing out, clean it out, regrease it.

Yeah, i tried some keyboard cleaner because I don't have access to my neighbors air compressor, but the lube is way too sticky and it got inbetween the bearings. I guess since i'm pressing my oems into it, it shouldnt matter right? haha I'm probably just being paranoid, as I've been putting a shit ton of work into my coupe to make it my sick lil daily, and i'm on a tight schedule for my new job n cannot afford a major set back :-(

well it is just styrofoam. what's the worse that can happen? have it make your hub break the axle nut off the you whole set up fall off? im pretty sure over time, the stuff will just wear out into millions of micro pieces.

Agreed, I would think Air would be your best bet though.

Use PB Blaster Graphite/Lubricant it melts styrofoam and lubricates while doing it. you can get at your local automotive part store.

acetone then clean with mineral spirits.

acetone will disolve the styrofoam into goo. wash it out with mineral spirits.

Get rid of those shitty ass bearings and put your OEM used ones in there.

20 year old bearings are better than that dumb ass ball bearing design.

i dont understant the point of this question. OP you said that you are pressing OEM bearings in. right? so who the fuck cares if the shitty ichiba bearing have styrofoam in them? seriously just press them out, clean this inside with some brake clean, grease then press in OEM's done.

Might as well put in the OEM bearings while you still have the hubs out

I've ran my Ichiba hubs for maybe 3 months and one of my wheels already has play, but I kind of was expecting it though

Removing bearings and replacing with OE = doesn't matter about the trash. You're removing them anyway.
