I've searched around for the answer but didn't really come across any posts that answered my question, just mainly the difference between the gt28r and the gt2871r.

Is it worth it to go from a s14 t28 to an s15 spec R t28? Is it worth the $675? I plan to make about 300hp with my setup.

S14 SR
HKS 555 injectors
z32 MAF
HKS Actuator @ 14psi
FMIC
Walbro 255 fuel pump
z32 Fuel Filter
3" turbo back
Nistuned ECU

I know the gt2871r would be a better buy, but thats just a bit out of my price range. So again, is it worth to go from s14 t28 to s15 gt28r?

Thanks for the help guys.

S14 t28 is the same as a S15 t28. The difference is only the cast divider on the turbine housing and the turbine wheel made of inconel.

Same power output, same wheel sizes, same compressor and turbine housing sizes, both are ball-bearing. Same damn turbo.

Oh wow. I wasn't aware of this. I thought only the s15 turbo was bb. Sorry for the noob questions, i just wasn't aware. So my s14 t28 is capable of 320hp?

I don't believe a GT2560 (that is what a S14 and S15 turbo is) will be able to make 320whp. I am pretty sure they pitter out right at about 300whp (some claim 310-315). I am about to tune my S14SR with S15 injectors and am expecting to make around 275whp or so, since I have a stock MAF still.

A GT2860R, or disco potato would be well worth the upgrade if you got some 720cc injectors.

Good to know.
I think I'll just stick with the s14 t28 then. I've already got 555 injectors and a z32 MAF. Might just put the money towards a head gasket.

the 2871r will be good beyond 300whp for sure, if you ever want to expand on your setup ... but if you have no desire to go past 300whp then you dont need it

I only plan to make 300whp. I want to start working on the exterior of my car after i reach 300whp.

Then I would stay with the s14 t28. Maybe a Disco down the road.
