View Full Version : S15 HLSD VS Quaife VS Q45 side flanges

I just got done trying to fit an S15 HLSD into a Q45 housing with the Q45 6 bolt side flanges. Turns out the S15 differential will not work with the Q45 flanges. Will a Quaife HLSD made for the R200 differential work with the Q45 side flanges? Or are there any other options?

isnt the q45 diff similar to the z32TT one? Perhaps a tt z32 lsd would work (like a cusco/kaaz/nismo)

They are similar, but afaik the similarity ends at the bolt pattern of the axles. I think internally the z32 tt (R230) is a physically larger differential than the Q45 (R200). Let me know if i'm wrong.

Yeah most of the Q45 stuff is 300ZX TT-sized. The Z32 LSDs you listed are all clutch-type though, and it looks like he's interested in helical.
Is there a reason you're trying to stick with Q45 output shafts? You use whatever output shafts fit the LSD, then mate that to your axles. 5-bolt or 6-bolt output shafts from an S-chassis fit the S15 HLSD don't they?

Could you explain what you mean by most of the stuff. Is the 300zx tt internals the same size as the Q45 and every other R200 diff?
I am trying to use the Q45 output shafts because I am swapping an LS1 into my car. So I need the beefier axles that come on the Q45. If I thought the stock axles would support the torque of the V8 I would just use the S15 output shafts.

The hubs are the same size, and they use the same diff I believe. I'm not sure the output shafts are going to make the difference - usually it's the axles CV that breaks, not the output shaft. I'd use the S15 output shafts - they should mate up to whatever axles you're planning on using.
