Something I have been curious about, are the Japan-spec S-chassis stock exhausts identical to the US 240SX models, or are there differences?
In some pictures I have looked at, the tips do seem a little larger in diameter, but that might just be my eyes playing tricks on me.
I imagine the turbo models in Japan/Europe would have possibly received better-flowing exhausts, especially SR cars. If that is the case, I would love to get my hands on a stock SR 180SX/S13 catback.

Type-X is the only obvious combo breaker.

Picture on bottom. Tips, slightly larger or identical? Can't tell.

Also, would anyone happen to know more about the Type-X exhaust?
Was it made for the Type-X exclusively, or was it a publicly-available aftermarket Nismo exhaust that Nissan decided to use?

Yes, I am aware it is a Nismo exhaust. I was just curious if it was made exclusively to be sold on the Type-X, or if it was a normally available Nismo exhaust.

That is disappointing, I was hoping it was a little larger in diameter, so it could be a subtle quiet novelty upgrade over the stock 240 exhaust. But thank you, that is what I was curious about.

Just curious, why are you interested in the stock exhausts?
I'm sure you could always get an aftermarket set-up and make it quiet enough for street driving, etc.
I feel like it would be so hard to get your mitts on a complete system.

Just trying to find something that would be an improvement over the stock one, but still stay very quiet.
I know I could always have a custom one made, but I would rather find an already complete setup.
N1-style exhausts are still my favorite as far as looks go though, I would love to have a quiet 2.5" one. Supposedly the HKS is pretty quiet, I will have to look into that.
