S13 sr with a t28 and all bolt ons
A/c fan with stock fan shroud and rb25 clutch fan

well basically I have a power fc and a defi water temp. I was at the track here in las vegas on saturday and noticed what the temps where reading on the defi and the power fc. The water temp reads as the water exits the engine and the power fc reads the stock water temp intake sensor.

The exiting temp on the defi was 85C
The entering temp was 81-80c

This is with the hood off and waiting a minute. I think i should get a better radiator like a double pass or something but is this normal does anyone else have this problem. I mean only 5*c of cooling seems kinda weak.

Hood off was making it worse. Instead of a wind tunnel pulling air at velocity through the radiator, it was just breezing.

Try it with the hood on.

Car was running between 88-95 with hood on and took alot longer to cool.

That is almost 200* an oil cooler will help. Even double pass might not... bigger opening for bumper as well. I am sure track temps were over 110.....so..... nothing you can do.

Yeah, the SR keeps allot of heat in the oil.

I could be wrong about the hood thing, i guess its all about how much ducting you have / don't have in there.

remove your thermostat... try again... wow radiator cools... run an oil temp gauge if you want.. if your in the 200* range your fine. Most run oil through a coolant based oil cooler on factory vehicles.

get an oil cooler
huge difference. believe me.

and leave your hood on. removing it does not help at all.
