View Full Version : AEM short ram intake CARB legal?

Just wondering if anybody with an AEM intake for a 240SX has the CARB sticker. Mine didn't come with one so I'm assuming it's either pending CARB exemption or it's not CARB exempt at all.

I thought all of AEMs intakes were CARB legal....?? Have you tried contacting AEM?

yes they are. the filter they use is K&N, thus its carb legal.

I thought so too. All of the my friends AEM intakes have a little silver 2-3" sticker on the intake pipe stating that they are legal, just incase the police try to give you a hard time. I didnt see one on mine so I was curious as well.

check out their web site, I believe it says there that it is 50 state legal pending.

EDIT: "Every AEM system is either C.A.R.B. exempt, or pending C.A.R.B. exemption (50-state legal)." ( http://www.aempower.com/induction.htm ) ...also here's a pic on their page showing the CARB sticker...

^^^thats why you get injen intake for 240s. i got pulled over the cop pop my hood and see the C.A.R.B badge on the the intake, he just let me go.

If your 240sx AEM intake didn't come with the CARB sticker, just call up AEM and they will send you one. That's what I did a few years back when I had mine. I do believe they asked me to fax them my receipt though...but, can't remember for sure.

that right there is probably your best option to solve this problem. Just give AEM a call and let em know what you need.

It is carb exempt... I also have the sticker too. Just be sure that you have the proper year car. I have a '90 and I had a KA24DE in my car and the state ref wouldn't smog my car unless I took it off. He said it was good for the '91 to '94. :(

i agree injen is the way to go since they actually weld on a plate with teh carb number on the pipe itself if anyone is thinking of buying a shortram.

as for the current topic, someone already mentioned calling aem. they should be able to help you out
