finally got the RB running with a few new parts and an piggyback system.
anyone who has experience with a downpipe close to the brakes, let me
know if i should do more heat protection

Old license plates work wonders for this sort of thing...;)

wrap the master cylinder too i just melted mine and now i wrapped it and no problems yet :)

yeah, just make some sort of heat shield.
old license plate idea is genius!

you should be alright with the header wrap on there. Mine is about that close and the header wrap keeps it cool. A shield wouldn't hurt though

What I did is took off a metal plate off the ecu cover. lol and bend it to shape.
cant see it in pic but it works fine.

Just get thermal header wrap or a reflective heat shield. you can get those from any ebay or hot rod shop.
