hey
for a s13 sr20
got a question about my timing chain hitting the guide at the top inbetween the 2 cam sprockets. i just replaced the head gasket on my car and when i spin my crank with a ratchet the chain sometimes jumps a little at the top and hits the guide when i let go of the ratchet.... i can see the chain tensioner go in a little too when this happens..

is this normal? i cant remember it doing this before maybe it did..

Looks normal to me. Mine did that too when I manually cranked it. It's been problem free for about a year and half now. ::knock on wood:: :bigok:

the tensonier applies tension with oil pressure

plus the intake cam is snapping when the cam lobe slides off the rocker arm
when the engine is running its still gonna be pulling the chain and cams and keep them from snapping

Its fine and normal

my engine has never started up and ran since coming back from the machine shop, however, just pouring oil in it and hitting the starter does that same thing you have going on there. Don't worry about it.
