hey guy im curently itn the market for a diff. i have a open diff on my s13 and it sucks ass. i daily my car alot but i also have my fun with it. i hear tha the se stock vlsd sucks to but i think that a 2 way diff is too harsh for daily driving. also looking into the hlsd's from the s15 but t]hey are a bit expensive. just wanted to know what people that have been through this have to say.

I have a Balltec 1.5way. It's not harsh at all, my wife drove the car with the diff for several months and she didn't complain. She wouldn't touch the car after the solid mounts though, lol.

Aww^^^ I want that lsd, the adjustable nismo one
The s15's lsd are actually cheaper than most two way's, I was thinking about getting one of those for daily and just welding my open for drift days or something I'm still undecided

get a VLSD and shim it.
Wouldn't shimming it decrease the life of the diff. I'm into road racing not drifting but I don't mind being sideways from time to time. 1.5 ways are expensive but I would love to have one, I guess if I find one for about 500 I would get it or maybe the s15 glad which I hear nothing but good things about.

i rock an s14 vlsd and i think its fine to daily in my s14...occasional auto-x and drifting from time to time and locks hard as hell but still feels amazing to just daily

i've been driving my S13 with S15 HLSD for a year now. i love the thing to death. make sure you get the output shafts that go with it.
i love it, the LSD part is there on demand, and not there when you don't need it. i have a shit ton of fun with it.
FYI i don't drift. but i do like power sliding around corners.

get a VLSD and shim it.
Thats what I did. I think I paid $26 TOTAL with the shim and VLSD from a Q45. I didn't buy it with drifting in mind, I did it because 1) It was $26 and 2) it's not an open diff. Done deal.
By the way, if you put a 2 way in on stock, shitty 20 year old mounts it wouldn't be as harsh as say Nismo or solid mounts.
Sorry to bump an old thread, I just thought it would be better than making a new one. For those of you with a shimmed VLSD how has it stood up against time? I've heard shimming a vlsd greatly reduces its lifespan and Im just curious as to how much. I'll be shimming my dif sometime in the next few feeks hopefully.
