i dunno man, CSTs were cool for ever regardless of the fact that they were super available for dirt cheap anywhere in japan. Same basic idea is R33s, forever awesome wheels despite their price and availability.

your image of them may have been compromised because of some lame ass cars stateside running CST/battles. In my (humble) opinion a classic design like that will never become "played out".

forgive me if i am wrong but there is an S13 with sportmaxes in your avatar, i think CSTs are roughly one thousand percent cooler than any sportmaxes will ever be.

well, cookie cutter is a pretty narrow minded concept.

certain lines look good on certain cars.

utilize whatever is available to make it dope.

odds are, youre gonna end up with a car that looks similar to somebody else's.

example:

My S13 and Risky Devil Josh's S13, exterior-wise we had a fairly similar parts list, now its plain to see that his car stood out compared to mine. why is that? his execution, little things like mms of difference in wheel fitment, ride height, placement of vinyl, color scheme, all that shit sets it apart from the rest.

no doubt its an awesomefucktastic car. may be different in the owners choice of aero, paint, engine mods, etc. but whats really different? the brand name of parts. at a glance, aside from color, these three s14s are identical. cookie cutter prolly isnt the right word, but its definately not unique. no 240 is unique anymore.

They buy wheels in bulk - chuck a centercap at it and sell it cheap.

Either way - NONE of those S14's look like the red one.

If you think that u need glasses. They are all koukis with battles/cst's - They all have different aero etc. None of them are the same color, have the same aero, hood, wing.

Nobody is saying the red car is super unique. What's cool about the red car is the execution. It was done right. The ride height is on point, the wheel fitment is good, the kit fits spot on, its got nice paint, etc. In a forum filled with ebay built, multi-colored, ziptie ridden POS's this car is a rare gem. No 240sx is unique anymore if you wanna get technical.

If you build a car to stand out, you're building a car for the wrong reasons. That whole concept always reminded me of that "rebel phase" everyone goes through in middle school...where you try so hard to be different, but end up looking just like everyone else who's trying to be different.. its just silly.

Personally, I don't really like to compare cars, I try and give my attention and respect to each one I look at, rather than worrying what the other person parked next to them may have done. I just look at how well things are executed, the craftsmanship, and quality. Things like that are far more important to me rather than what it looks like compared to all the other S chassis I see.

I wasn't going to get into this....but I basically hate all of the kits they make for S14s....except I love the GP Sports Type 1 kit for kouki S14s, you just can't find the whole thing.

That being said I like the red S14's kit better then some of the other ones...but yeah fairly cookie cutter. I still think the car looks pretty good though.

The beauty of the red car is all in the details. I mean, look at it. It's wonderfully put together. Just because it "looks similar" to every other nicely modded kouki out there, doesn't take away from how great it looks. Hell, I wish more koukis went that route. Nowadays I see cheaply modded koukis, still running 4 lug and looking worse than thier previous generation. Years ago, when you modded a kouki, you did it the right way, the clean way, just because it was a kouki. No other way around it.
Cars built like this one make me happy. So nice. Good quality parts. Great execution. And best of all, it's being driven. FUCK YEA

Most definitely. The more I look at the car the more I like it, but I still can't bare to buy a kit like that for my car, haha. I will say D-Max makes some of the better looking kits out there for S14s.

I most certainly don't consider this car to be a thrown together piece of shit, it definitely has noticeable time and effort put into it. It just isn't the style I would personally chose to build my car like. It has 2002 Japanese street style written all over it.

s0ap i heart u, yeah i have put in some hard work on the car but have had a lot of help from my buds around here locally with motor work and the body work a friend of mine works at a nissan dealership and hooked it up on the painting of the kit and fixing a big ass dent in the rear quarter that was there when i bought the car, it was completly stock when i bought it from the original owner a older hispanic lady hehe.
Heres a few more pics of motor when i rebuilt it and added some stuff because my headgasket blew back in march 08. I ran HKS 264 cams, gt2871r, greddi intake mani, 740cc injectors etc for a little bit after the rebuild but it wasn't running correctly with rom tune (lean lean lean) so i put it back to stock for the most part and winded up selling some of my motor parts, plan on getting some tomei pon cams and a s15 turbo and getting it tuned with nistune by the end of the year because a nice local shop just became a nistune supplier/tuner.

While I don't entirely disagree with you, most of the cars Brian has posted lately have been nice (there's no doubting that). However, none of them have anything other then out of the box parts on them...I don't see what the big deal is? I mean it's refreshing to see that people still attempt to build cars in a quality manner rather then cheap out, but it is hard for me to get really excited about bolt on parts. :hs:
