I know dimensions and stuff would be off... but do you guys think it would be realistically possible to put a s13 or s15 varietta convertible top on a s14? chop off the top and put in a rollbar for extra support.

it was just something i was pondering. i know ANYTHING is possible if you have the money, but .. just curious to see if it would be a reasonable price (under 5K)

no way for under 5k possible at 9-15k but for a custom convertable that won't colapse in on itself with age it is not going to come cheap

if you've got that much money just buy the s15 convertable varietta

cutting the top of the s14 would cause a number of problems. First off, the roof is one of the main structural points of the car, so extensive body mods would be needed. Additional braces and bars would have to be welded in. Plus i think it would look like ass.

EDIT: just break out the sawzall and go for it :D

I think your best bet would be to take an s14, and make it a convertible, and find a top that works with it. there are a lot of folding hard tops for other cars... ones that have support in the states.
dunno though, I think its an awesome idea.
it would defintely be really expensive.

It's free in photoshop. Here's an old pic of DSC's car:

IIRC, there was also a convertible version with a Barbie in it...

Been there... DON'T DO IT!

Just the fact that you have to ask these questions shows that you NEED someone else to do it. THEN it's not worth the cash.

I've taken more than one sawzall to a car. You need a custom reinforcemant under the car to prevent torsional flex...not to mention the car... bendin' in half. :)

Noo......... Thats a targa top

Ttops have a bar running down the middle between the driver/passenger.

ALMOST as sweet as a convertible. A lot less wind.

An easier way to chop the top is put your thumb on the car pictured above, then image seats and your done :p

IMHO I think the easier/safest way would be to take a S13 convertible and make it look like a S14.

Nah man, It does'nt suck. It looks Quite Gnarly. I realize the impossibilities of it. But it looks phat.
The bodys long Ovalish, Horizontal shape lends itself well to the loss of the pillars and roof.

I think it's sweet. Something for some rice boy in SoCal to try. You couldn't that sh*t off where I live.:( but really :p :p :p
