Someone hit my car!!! ARGH! (the new one)

I guess this is only slightly on topic, mods can kill it I guess, but I just need to vent and seek advice on what to do. I've never been in an accident before, hell, I've never even gotten pulled over before. I have a FLAWLESS driving record. But now some jerk off pulls a hit and run on my nice 2 month old (for me) car. I called the police and am filing a report... but I don't know what I'm supposed to do after that, call my insurance co. I guess :(


Rather that telling the whole story yet again, I'm going to paste an eMail I sent out to my friends and co-workers that tells the tale :(

I'm just extending my feelers to see if anyone by any chance saw or heard who hit my car :(
I narrowed down where it could have happened to 2 times. While a good portion of you were at Rico's with me friday after work, or some time monday while I was at the office.

Then entire front end of my car has pretty bad damage, ranging from flaking paint, to cracks in the nose of my car and broken/bent supports that hold the whole nosepiece on (you can move the whole nose up and down about 2" now). Whomever hit my car didn't even have the decency to leave a note. I KNOW they knew they hit it, and hard, even in the unlikely event that they did not feel hitting it, my blaring car alarm would have let them know that they violated my property. So far I'm guessing maybe $800 in damages so far, I'll be getting estimates this week.

Did anyone see or hear what happened? From what I can tell, the culprit was a light colored SUV (most likely white, grey, or silver), possibly with a trailer hitch w/o the ball from the indentations in my car. Please keep an eye out for such a car that has black paint scuffs on it's bumper. This person didn't just bump me, they climbed up my car, as far as 10 inches up the nose, almost to the hood. Also can anyone recommend a good body shop that does quality work? I'm willing to go as far as Spokane if need be.

Most of you know how much I love my car (enough to buy 2 of the same one!), and that I've put countless hours of blood, sweat, and tears into it. If you have ANY info which might be helpful in tracking down this honorless (*&#$*#, you would undoubtably be rewarded for being forthcoming. Thanks everyone :(

I so bummed out :/ But like everyone says, it' could've been a lot worse... but if it was, the other guy/girl's car prolly would have been too screwed up to drive... my car is NOT a ramp dammit :(

it happenned to me also last winter
what i did:
call a police, file in a report
call my insurance co. (progressive.. excellent service so far)
insurance co. sent a guy to look at the damages to your car
he calculated the estimated cost..
send you a check..
bring your car to bodyshop

i got a $400 check for my last hit n run accident.. and $250 deductible..
i brought my car to a friend's body shop
i pay only 400 bux keeping the 250 to myself..
basically.. i got my car fixed for free

I know EXACTLY how you feel....someone in a pickup did a hit and run on my car, but I didn't get a chance to grab a tag number. If you have anytime of coverage on your insurance I would go for it. I'm unfortunately screwed because I have the bare minimum...and I have to pay for damages myself. :(

I can't do anything right now except replace my fender. The estimate from a body shop was $1300. :eek:

It happened once in front of my house at 11pm. A lady lost control in her minivan and struck my neighbor's car. While my sister called the police, I went after the minivan on roller-blades. She didn't get far... She was arrested...

damn!!! sorry to hear that... bastards... hit and runs suck! my friend's civic got a BIG ass hole in his door when he was parked in a residential neighborhood. no note, no nothing... hope they catch whoever did this to your car!

Like everyone says...It could have been worse. I was imagining crushed metal and all kinds of evilness. But it's just some dings and paint damage. Sorry to hear though.

Umm, actually I am trying to keep my post count down (I don't like the thought of me having over 1000 because it makes me look like in live on the internet all day). I signed up last year, and didn't care much for posting in the forums (just wanted to browse the gallery). I found a silvia/180sx gallery on the internet in about 1999 but forgot the website, so I stumbled upon this one last year... so yea, I did run up my post count in the gallery section.

that sux for your car. I am a student at USF in Tampa and my 240 looks like an outright beater because I know that asshats will dent, scratch, hit&run. If you have a nice car some loser will intentionally mess with it. Espically ex-girlfriends.
