Im planning to get 2 10" Alpine SWR 1041D subs (Link: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-H6HiixvNNFs/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=500SWR1041) in my 240SX. I was wondering if the Alpine CDA 7892 (Link: http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=alpcda7892) headunit would handle those 2 subs?? If they would, what Alpine amp would you recommend??

what do you mean by handle??
if the radio has RCA outs then yes
i think it would not be worthwhile to run them off of the amp in the head unit
find out the power carrying capabilities of your subs and the current demands of the amp you want then make your decision
usually you want to go with an amp that has slightly less max output than your sub for the longest life

ummm.... rms on those is ok. 100-300 watts, that means get a 2channel amp just for the woofers, like a 600wattX1 channel, or 300X2 bridged at 2 oms.
why go all the way with alpine? its expensive and their subs are overpriced. rockford fosgate is good and cheaper.

oh yea forgot, the head would be ok for that setup.
just get 2 amps, one as i said for woofers, 2nd for speakers

thanx russian, do you any any particular Alpine amps that are good? Sorry that im asking all these questions its just that im still a noob. Also the Alpine subs i want to get aren't too expensive. I can get 2 10" Subs for $200 and each being 1000w Peak power.

i tell you what dude. alpine amps are hella more than the rest.

i would recomend setup like mine ( i think it rox :) )

crunch V-drive amps (very very decent)

400w for sub (crunch fat boy)
200w for all 4 speakers (pioneer 3-4 way, 7' front, 5 1/2 rear)

this setup wont be expensive, not to mension crunch is rockfort forsgate, so quality is good.
i dont usially even punch the system all the way since it so ****ing loud. :)

as far as alpines, if you do want them, look for the wattage you want your subs to be in. best way as i said get 2 amps, 1 for speakers , 2nd for sub - this way you dont have to spend money say, on a 4-or5 channel amp.

wow never knew crunch was rockford fosgate...always just assumed crunch was POS. Honestly i would just go all alpine setup, you seriously cant go wrong. Also, if you dont mind buying without warranty, buy off ebay or ikesound.com. those are the rock bottom cheapest for car audio,.

heres what i would get ( if i were you, and also if i had some $ to redo my setup) :)

this amp for subs
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CRUV2600

and 2 of those subs

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CRUVM12

it gonna be bangin' with this setup.

and Crunch is not a POS. i had crunch since ever, and NEVER had problems with nether subs or amps... i dont know where you get your info but alpine always being overpriced. ill post i lil later what can you get for your alpine amps too.

then just get an amp, alpine if thats what you want, thats 2channel bridgeble, 300w per channel.

say a 600 watt 2 channel amp. or at least 200X2. i think on the website that rancid suggested there are some good amps.

edit: or should i get this one? http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=alpmrdm500&SVBName=279

as far as speakers whats the RMS on them?

ProjectWidow

You mean the second one for $319?? And the RMS for the speakers will probably be no more than 2-50W. Thanx

then
since you have 4 speakers get a 2 channel or a mono (bridged, but id rather go with 2 channel) with 400watts (50X4 at 2 oms)

so say , 2 channel, 100 watt X2

I am a Cadence dealer here in MT. I would recommend the Cadence Z6000 6 channel amp. Output is 4x150 @2 ohms(for your mids and highs), 1x400 @4 ohms(for your subs), and 1x75 @ 4ohms (for a center channel). It has complete adjustable cross-overs, sub-sonic filter, ARVA, internal cooling fan. This will power your entire system. Retail on this amp is $600, I will sell it for $400 with a full 2 year warranty, or search for the best price on the internet. I have installed MANY of these amps for single amp complete systems, and they work extremely well.
