I'm not that familiar with SR's this car never had rod knock, never even drove enough to have it. It only started making that evil noise when I changed over to the new downpipe.

I did find debri in my oil pan a week ago that looked to be a timing chain guide. Could I be due for a new timing chain?

if the timming chain is already falling apart, why not just prevent a worst disaster.

Alright. Wrong answer, I have no idea if that is the timing chain rattling. It never did before.

I see you said you have code 34..I had it for a good while myself..but the car never ran bad..just lacked power and gas mileage was slightly worse. If you wanna save the hassle of wiring..you could probably bend resistor in shape of a stable and stick each end in one of the two holes on the ecu connector to the sub harness that goes to the sensor it self. Then if it clears code..you could wire however you want. That's what I did at least. Dunno anything about that sound..I took the very top guide off my KA helped with noise. Good luck.

Have you checked under your valve cover and actually looked at both the guide and the valve cover itself? If it's hitting the valve cover there should be marks left behind from where it hit.

Well I just did the resistor trick right now, it cleared the code and I have code 55 now which means all is good I guess.

Once I get the car on the ground I will take the valve cover off. I guess that means if the guides are all fucked I'll have to remove the front cover to get to the other two. Sigh =(

might as well pull the engine out, install more goodies, and fix the problem.

I have no job, the economy sucks, and obama is already giving me stimulus. I can't do shit but work with what I have.

Can you remove guides like you can with KA or is your only choice to replace em? Isn't there a timing chain tensioner aswell?

No you can remove it, two 10 or 12 hex bolts and call it a day. I'll check for it.

here is pictures from the last time the vc was off.

i'd say you were right as to your assumption that the debris was part of the timing chain guide considering there's nothing else inside the engine made of black plastic that I can think of. It looked like the curved guide that goes beside the water pump in particular, and not having this guide or missing peices of this guide could be allowing your timing chain to have tons of slack and rub against the front cover. Definitely wouldn't be a bad idea to at least take the valve cover off and have a look. Doesn't cost anything to look, so why not

BTW your video blog is hilarious...I laughed when you used "the Rambo knife" to remove your oil pan. awesome.
