Starter Install ?

So there are two bolts that hold on the negative and positive. The other two bolts hold in the starter and i hear are a pain to get to. Does anyone have any good advice on getting them out before i start. Also what are the torque specs when you tighten the new one on, i didn't see any in the FSM. Thank you

The 2 wires are not pos and neg. One is 12v power, the other (small one) is the starter signal. Installation and removal is pretty straight forward. Make sure you disconnect the battery.

Just use your judgement, its not really a big thing replacing the starter.... I thought it was just 2 bolts holding the starter to the tranny and thre were just starter wire, positive and negative running to it. But I could be wrong. Probably double wrenching it will get you good with torque.

use a 12mm wrench and touch one end of the bolt to the other something cool will happen

timlush- thanks yeah its not negative and positive sorry. Their is one hard bolt i heard a swivel extension helps.

The starter is grounded simply by being in contact with the motor. Starter wont work if the interface is rusty.

To quote the Chilton Manual...ahem " 1st disconnect battery. 2nd remove starter. 3rd install new starter. Replace battery" I wish all installations were that easy. :)

But seriously, It's not bad. I've done a few on my past 240's. Just make sure you don't over tighten and strip out the starter where the bolts thread in...my shitty Chinese starter stripped pretty easily.

It helps to have a universal joint and an extension.. Other than that, disconnect the battery, take off the three or four bolts, and replace.

First time it took me maybe an hour, second time 20-30 mins

u dont wanna start without the right tools first.
i started mine and it took 1 whole day cuz i had to go buy tools in between.
it was a bitch getting to the bolts but it works out fine if you have the right tools for the job

Got it done within an hour. Pretty easy except i was to impatient to let my engine cool down and burned my arm a little taking the top bolt off. lol
